More suggestions for 2004 Calendar

Car & Car Conversion Magazine INSERT INTO post VALUES (CCC) run two days each year at Castle Combe INSERT INTO post VALUES (the ones i go to) where you just turn up. Well, next years should be the 1st May INSERT INTO post VALUES (3 weeks prior to Japfest!!!) and 19th June. INSERT INTO post VALUES (These dates to be confirmed asap)

It could be a chance to "practice" ;) Can we add these dates to our list i will confirm them asap.:devil2:

You can pay £140 for various days throughout the year and for that you get instruction from a Castle Coombe Saloon Car Driver in your own car, one on one tuition! Otherwise they sell days driving their single seaters and Imprezas/lotus Elise/Formula Ford etc cost £80+

Could be worth speaking to the MLR to see if we could join one of their track days ?

I'd say this would be a good idea. Whilst I'm looking forward to the trackday, it would be very reassuring to know what/when/how to correct skids/slides, etc if my car reaches it's limits. I don't intend to push it so hard, but having never done this before, who knows?

I'll put my name down for a tuition day!

Unfortunately CCC have come to an end, the magazine will be winding up shortly and therefore these days may not be on offer next year.

The MLR have invited the other car club that I am a member of to their track days and they aren't even Mitsi's! Give them a call I am sure they will be happy to help.

Alternatively get a hold of the magazine called Circuit Driver, this is a specialist track day and race driver magazine, it lists everysingle track day in the UK and some of Europe and it offers big discounts.

Being one to try and be pro-active, I have sent an email to Castle Combe themselves as follows:

"Hi Maria

I am part of the Mitsubishi Club VR4 and we attended Japfest held earlier this year.

As this was our first event, we did not take advantage of the track time and all but one of us sat it out for the day. This will be different in 2004 !

What I need to know is the costs involved for us to arrange a track day for our club. What we want to do is have some practice and tuition before Japfest 2004. I cannot give an exact number of attendees at present but if you say between 10 & 15 for now what would the cost be and what weekend dates are available, and would this include some expert tuition on the day ?

Many thanks

Pete Honey INSERT INTO post VALUES (Club VR4)"

Will post the reply once I get one.

Pete

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can forget hiring the track exclusively for the club for a day.......have a read of this from Castle Combe:

"Hi Peter

You would be best suited to our Car Track Days that we hold. Unfortunately dates have not yet been released for next year but just to give you an idea this year the cost was £140 for the day per car, extra drivers were £35. The format of the day includes a drivers briefing at start of day so you need to be here by at least 8 am. Track will open at 9 am until 5 pm. All cars must be road going and silenced to 100 dba, cars will all be noise tested before going on track. You will then be placed in a group which you will remain for the day. Normally we have 6 groups of about 12 cars in each group. Each group will go out in 10 mins sessions. We will also have ARDS Instructors present on the day. They will first do sighting laps and then if you would like any extra tuition they will be available throughout the day for you to book.

Hope this info helps but if you would like any more info then please forward me your address and I can always send you one of this years leaflets and place you on mailing list for next year.

For you to hire the track exclusively you are looking at a starting price of £3,000 + Vat per day and this will allow you to only have 3 cars on track at any one time or you can go up to a '12' car day which is £5750 + VAT. So depending on your budget you have a couple of options. Instructors would be extra to hire - £150 + VAT per Instructor.

Unfortunately you would not be able to hire track at weekends as these have already been booked for 2004. The only time would be January or December next year.

Maria Fisher

B*%#&y hell!!

Have they been taking financial advice from Mitsubishi on how to charge their punters?!?!

:soapbox:
I'd want hot and cold running pit babes, free pit crew and 1,000RON Petrol on tap for that price! Jayus! Is it genuine Mitsubishi Tarmac on the track or something?! is that why it's so bonkersly expensive, I wonder?!:D

That cost is not horrendous in the grand scheme of things, yes it is for a club like this, but you are having to cover some serios insurance policies.

If you want cheap track days that are user friendly then you should talk to Bedford Autodrome, at least if you fall off the black stuff it doesn't hurt;)

Why not organise a trip to the Nurburgring, at about £7 a lap at 14miles a lap it is great, you just turn up and pay on the gate:cool:

Don't mention the Ring as it seems to be a palce to be avoided

however......

if you contact Book A Track or EasyTrack and want to include a block booking with one of their trackdays then the cost may be quite reasonable

It may still range from ? 190 to 250 ? per car - perhaps a liitle difference either side but they do the organising take bokings and payment and we just turn up

Depending on type/cost of day it may be 3 sessions per hour or an open pit lane

You have to ask to check the possibilities and get the details

NB - next and poss last Ring trip - ? next Easter 9-12 April 2004
