There is a picture and it looks mean

Looks a bit iffy to me :Ponder:
1) year 2000 would be a W reg not 51
2) 2400 should be 2500 mis print maybe ?
3) £8,995 is very cheap

Didn't look right to me either but I thought it was interesting.

Not sure, does the Galant Estate come as anything else?
Looks like one from the front but it may just be the bodykit.

Did a search for their site on Google but came up short.

I notice that you VR4 peeps struggle with identification of non-VR4s...

So, using the silly amount of Mitsubishi brochures and press releases I have here, im putting a guide together for you! Stay tuned for Kieran´s handy guide to just about every UK specification 8G Galant produced between 1997-2003...

Dont hold your breath at the moment though... I´m still writing it:D

My attention to detail is crap.

Just as well I don't work in computers and rely on it for troubleshooting.

Oh wait a minute, I am  ...BUGGER :D

You're right, its almost impossible to tell the difference apart from badging. These 2.4GDi motors have 165ps and a 5 spd auto and are available in 2 & 4WD. They certainly look the part!!!

Shouldn't be too hard to include the other interesting models.

How about the 2.0 MiVec Galant. INSERT INTO post VALUES (out of the FTO) and others

here (http://autozine.kyul.net/html/Mitsubishi3.htm#Galant)

For Japan:

1.8-litre GDI four-pot: this is the most commonly used GDI engine in Mitsubishi’s range. Rated 140 hp in JIS.
2.4-litre GDI four-pot: this long-stroke engine came from Space Wagon INSERT INTO post VALUES (Grandis) and now powers the top-spec Galant in Japan. It is rated at 165 hp in JIS and a V6-challenging 170 lbft of torque.

For East Asia:
2-litre MIVEC V6: this compact V6 came directly from the FTO coupe. The variable valve timing and twin-cam heads help it to achieve a full 200 horsepower output, although it desperately needs rev and 5-speed manual to compensate the lack of torque. It is installed in the Galant VR-M which is expected to phase out next year.

For Europe:
2-litre dohc four-pot: base engine. 136 hp.
2.4-litre GDI four-pot: differs from the Japanese 2.4 GDI by the reduction of air-fuel mixture ratio for adapting to European fuel. Rated 150 hp in DIN.
2.5-litre sohc V6: smooth and quiet. For effortless driving. 161 hp.

For USA:
2.4-litre four-pot: the 145 hp engine is built in the USA and also supply Chrysler.
3.0-litre sohc V6: 195 hp and 205 lbft, sufficient to rival Accord and Camry.

There is also a single Turbo 2.5 litre VR4 - not a type S, but something similar - there are a few over here (saw one in Leicester) - the Japs did a couple of VR4 variants I seem to remember from my research before buying.

Yeah, there's a Type-S and a Type-V. Single Turbos are not factory jobs though. Only the 6G VR-4 was a single turbo. All the others have been twins.
