Is that Nicks car? (looks a little purple though, so maybe not) Looks like there are a lot of people having a look, so it must be important.

Lol - I just noticed Wildcard's car in the first photo, you can see the huge rear wing :)

No, I think you were right the first time mate. I'm pretty sure I was parked further up all day, even after the track sessions. And if you look closely, you can see Ian's little wizard sticker on the rear wing.

The turbo was okay (fortunately!) but you're very close!

bradc
22-05-2006, 08:10 AM
something to do with a wastegate then perhaps, or is it something physically close to it in the engine bay?

Gly

oil feed to the turbo??

Getting much warmer, you may need to cool it down a bit

On a sad/happy note, the car was fixed by the end of the day, however it did involve our organiser having to do a 3hr round trip :(

"Look behind, we've got smoke..." was a bit of an understatement from the driver .

Then when we came to a stop and couldn't see out the windscreen or side windows where the marshalls were waving at us to get out was a bit .... umm, concerning.

I'm hoping it isn't a turbo coolant hose, maybe the line running to the heater?

Yep - you have got close enough. The banjo bolt to the turbo for the water line snapped. I guess I over tightened it when I changed the turbos a few months ago - It got a bit warm on track and sheared. So water being pumped a the manifold! Fortunately immediately noticeable and so I stopped and turned the engine off pretty smartish. It was worrying when Marshalls came running at us with fire extinguishers at the ready yelling at us to get out of the car!!

A bit of a jaunt to get a new bolt, but once fitted the car seems to be running well again. Missed out on a lot of the day though.

Many thanks to all who helped me sort it out!! And thanks to my wife who is doing my laundery!! :iloveyou:

Was a real shame you missed the best part of the day, however like we said on the day, atleast it wasnt terminal, nor any lasting damage was done.

Yeah, was a shock coming into the chicane and seeing you sat there /help

Glad it's all ok now Nick, and was a real shame you missed out on the second session etc.

Please can nothing else go wrong with your car??
