View Full Version : Guinness world record - "Most Mitsubishis"

I have a proposal..
Before Santapod I spoke to the Guinness Book of world records.

They stated the following.
"....we only list such records for entire brands of cars INSERT INTO post VALUES (i.e. largest parade of Mitsubishi cars). Although we don't currently list a record for the largest parade of Mitsubishis....."

This got me thinking.
What if we speak to all the Mitsubishi Owner Clubs, and found out if there would be any interest in trying to achieve such a feat, then organise a time and a place some time next year to set a world record.
Picking a time sometime next year would allow everyone plenty time to spread the word, get media interest and of course the general organising of the event.

This post is just a feeler - to find out who would be interested in attending the worlds largest gathering of Mitsubishi Cars.

If you are, please use the voting buttons above.
Any suggestions, ideas would be appreciated.

INSERT INTO post VALUES (I have Signed up for the record - I told them I would get back to them in about a month)

Thanks for your time

OFFICIAL REPLY FROM GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS

VEHICLE PARADES – GENERAL GUIDELINES
The following act as a guide to the specific considerations and undertakings, in addition to the general requirements, for any potential attempt on any record relating to the Longest parade of a particular type of vehicle. They should be read and understood by all concerned – organisers, participants and witnesses – prior to the event.

RULES
1. These records are for the greatest number of vehicles of the same make / marque starting and completing a parade route. All vehicles must carry the same name badge INSERT INTO post VALUES (e.g. Ford, Rolls Royce, Volkswagen); it is not sufficient for the vehicles merely to be produced by the same parent company.
2. The minimum distance of the parade must be 3.2 km. INSERT INTO post VALUES (2 miles) from the starting point to the finish INSERT INTO post VALUES (all cars must cross the start line and drive the length of the route to the finish line).
3. If a car cannot complete the route, that car must be deducted from the total count.
4. The cars in the parade may not be more than two car-lengths apart during the parade.
5. Where the parade takes place on a public road, the assistance of local law enforcement officials should be obtained. All traffic laws should be obeyed at all times.
6. The registration number of each vehicle, as well as the name and telephone number of the driver, should be recorded on a pre-printed sheet and submitted with the world record claim.

There must be a way of doing this in a co-ordinated fashion between there and here. Considering you are 11 hours behind us.
There is a perfect piece of motorway just north of Auckland that would do the trick for us over here Silverdale to Albany I reckon.
If we start the parade here at the same time as you do there then it would be harder to beat as it would be an international effort.
Dunno if that would qualify though or if we would be in competition.

k :)

wheels in motion.. :2thumbsup

just spoke to highway agency, and they understand the rules set out by Guinness, and are going to look for somewhere where.

a. we can all park to meet,
b. have enough road to cover the 2 mile required to set the limit :D

just going to dig out and double check the rules as outlined by Guinness:D as i dont remember the exact rules, but do recall the basic ones.

And a year further on, the MLR are getting serious about it. Should we ask about piggy-backing?

TBH I'm not sure they'll want us at this stage - they have enough EVO owners to break the current record. Maybe if they're struggling for numbers they might turn it into a Mitzy even rather than just EVO though
