ok, looking to buy another one and the problem is that it has 105,000 miles on the clock. I looked at "parkers" guide and it says aviod high milege Galant cars. The car is Galant V6-24v Sport (2000).

I'm not sure why as I always thought Mitsubishi cars (especially new ones) are just as reliable as other japanese/german cars, but does anyone know why high milege Galant cars are best avoided?

I would put it down to general wear and tear. after about 100-110k the suspension seems to give up and needs replaced. My first had 127k on it and i must have replaced every single suspension arm and joint at least once. Got rid of it at 156k, so they do keep running!

having said that though, my 2nd is at 94k and my new one is at 92k and both are fine. depends how they are looked after.

no need to avoid high mileage cars as long as
a) the price is right
b) it has been well looked after with FSH (preferably Mitsi)
c) not much goes wrong with them - as long as looked after.

my last V6 was over 116K with FMSH and it was a peach - no different from previous low mileage galants i owned.

speak to Mo (Zedy1) he has one thats done over 160K and still sweet. He also sells galants so may be able to fix you up with a good car at a good price ;)

My GLS is heading for 105k.

Ball joints are a recall item.

So my car should have been recalled then? I'm pretty sure it is the ball joint as i get a knock from the N/S front of the car when I hit pot holes!

could be the tie-rod end. they also seem to go first on mine. (unsure as to whether the tie-rod end is a ball joint though)/help
