No, its a Cooper 35 - made in 1996 to mark the 35th anniversary of the first Mini Cooper.

I think 200 were made.

My three sixties Cooper S cars are in my garage, one each 970, 1071 and 1275. Those little lads are securely lockd away !

Forgot to mention, I have a 1971 Cooper S and a 1968 pickup as well......

The 970 is really rare, mine is one of 38 known to the Mini Cooper Register.

ooh a 970 , i've always wanted one of those , my dad used to race one many years ago he got caught doing 85 on the M1 with it on a trailer behind his 1275 's' /pan , i didn't realise they are that rare now

Funny thing was with the 970 S, there were about 1000 cars made for homologation purposes but many more 970 engines. I assume as the car was menat for competition their reasoning was that owners would blow up engines every so often.

When I got my car it had a non oriignal 1275 S engine in it and the guy was having trouble selling it beacuse of that. But I found a replacement engine really easily. It means the car is not 100% oriignal but its the original shell and there are a load of reshelled Coopers around !

Anyway back to my Legnum, hopefully have Enkeis on in a couple of weeks to make it look better in the wheel area......

Looking great m8, I like the Leggie in red, and the Enkei's really suit it:2thumbsup

Oh and further to the "S" discussion above this is mine, a 1966 1275 "S" bored to 1293cc. Had it for over 20 years, pic taken a while ago and now sits in the garage awaiting retoration - when time allows./Grrr

Nice car !

You want to be careful though, as due to the rarity of sixties Cooper S cars, there are people getting details like registration numbers off the Internet to clone cars.

You had any problems re flaking laquer and paint at the edge of the rims?, on the enkie wheels.

Louis - not yet.

These are the special offer ones from the MLR, the previous owner of my 6 had bought them but never fitted them.

He was using one as a coffee table !!!

I think I might buy another set as a spare - I do like them on the Legnum.

DW, that looks great, they seem to fit better with the Red Legnum than most others - I've always thought they look too 'lightweight' when fitted to the darker coloured Leggies.

Reckon they suit the saloons fine though.

I really did like the Evo 7 wheels I currently have in the for sale section (shameless plug !!) but I do prefer these.

Hopefully I will have my nice red Brembos fitted in the next few weeks and then they should look even better !

I do like the car in red though, is it a rare colour ? anyone else got a red Legnum ?

They really suit your car Malc, I think evo 8's are best on a sedan and evo 7's best on a wagon.
