gotta say "i'm well like'n this wee motor" as standard back in 1992 it came with, electric window's, sunroof, mirror's, total closure alarm etc, etc..... it's a 1.6 Auto with overdrive, power drive and eco drive it can move along, so far ive not pushed it to hard but it sit's quite well at 120 :2thumbsup i also think this is the best shape any colt has came in

I liked the shape after this one (but not sure that it was much more than a facelift). Bargain for £280!

By any chance is it a V6? They made them in that shape with the 6A10 motor which is of course a cousin to the 6A12 and 6A13TT. I'm trying to track down one of those mirage's from that shape with one of those engines in it.

We barely get v6s in bigger cars here, let alone small hatches like that.

but they do exist! The problem is finding one

at first when my wife told me what she bought i thought it was the rare "170 BHP 1.6 mivic" engined colt ...... but it turned out only to be the 135BHP version, so far in my info hunting about UK colt's i think ive saw 2 V6 version's on a forum?? i'll try find the forum and post it up but most UK mirage model's look to be 1.6 engine's?

I had the older '89 Colt/Mirage Cyborg

http://gallery.helix.net.nz/view_photo.php?set_albumName=89-Cyborg&id=psibrg

FWD, 1600 DOHC (4G61) with a TD04H turbo.

very fun :)

See if you can pickup a 4G61 for yours, and drop it in :D

135bhp, are you sure ian? The 1.6 was 111bhp, it was the 1.8 that was 138bhp (surprising, as the 2 litre galant is only 131).

My missus had one of these, a '95 1.6 GLX, I believe they had around 129hp/group 11 insurance.
(it kept her safe after a bad frontender which caused £5k damage to it at the time and wrote off a Ford Fester.)

She then got a '99 1.6 GLX (totaly)new model which they dropped down to about 112hp/group 6 insurance, for
some reason. (Nicer car but much slower).

(she also had a colt mirage years ago, 1.4 with the twin ratio two stick gearbox !, those wacky jappy chappies))

All excellent cars.

Sorry, failing memory chips . . .

1992>1996 1.6GLX = 111hp
1996>2003 1.6GLX = 88hp

and they reversed the engine/gearbox locations. ( Good trivia, or what! )

That matches my info... I was thinking that 135bhp for an N/A 1.6 in 1992 was a bit optimistic...

/Grrr ...... your right!! first i was told it was a 16-Mivic version (170bhp?) then when i got it i thought, "bit sluggish for 170BHP  ?" then on a colt forum i was told it was the 135BHP model ................./pan all bloody wrong, it is the 111bhp model, but in that saying it's only 111bhp "it's a bloody quick 111bhp wee motor" there's no weight in these car's but they also have great road holding, strut's all round, broad and low, the centre of gravity in these is well balanced, wonder how it would go with a 2ltr 16v fitted?

That was the thing about the colt.... it had independant rear suspension YEARS before the focus "revolutionised" the small car market with it. It should have passive rear steer also?

Ahhhhrrrrrrr look at the little baby Mitsy ------- !!!!!! hang on a sec 111BHP in something that weighs less than a crisp packet. Look out Mitsy have devised the new scud missile.

I bet she doesn’t hang about – I would race you but errrrrrrrrr your too far away so we’ll call it a draw ---- ok./pan /pan /pan
