I've decided I want to a buy a Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution and I reckon I may as well have a go at finding one at auction in Japan, gettting it imported, complied and such. Anyway, how do I as a private citizen do it? Can someone give me a rundown or point me to an article or link please?

There are some websites that make it easy like Tau. Compliance is no drama. Just make sure that whoever you deal with woild indemnify you if customs cease the vehicle because of suspect speedos.

BTW Pajero Evolutions are not common in the Jap auctions and the last few I have seen come up were not overly cheap (starting at about $15K for 97s with about 80Km).

I had a look at todays auctions. There were none. Saturday is the other big day for the Auctions.

There weren't any Pajero evos in Friday or Saturday's auctions. There was one today for $27,500.

Today's auction had a 98 with 108 kms starting at $10,500. Also the $27,500 one was on auction starting at $20,000 (previously was a for sale price not auction).

This is your restricted dealer auction right? And it is US$ dollars isn't it?

How does one get access to this site, or somewhere similar for ordinary people who aren't dealers?

Yes this is restricted to licenced Motor vehicle dealers (you need to prove that you are a dealer). This site is in NZ$.

There will be other sites that give access to the same auctions via agents in Japan, just a matter of finding them.
