View Full Version : Scotland Meet??????

MJR

Right myself and Ritch were talking the other night about what meets are coming up etc

And realised there isnt much happening up this way, :speechles

And I move down to Cornwall in a couple of months, :pimp2:

So was wondering if we could arrange a day for all us to meet up etc :party3:

Not like the amazing "AYRSHIRE CRUISE" that happened recently :inquisiti

So can we get ideas, availibility, locations etc from people regarding this and try to arrange something in the near future before I go (end of august) as I would'nt mind meeting all the peeps up this way before I go down south and meet all that lot,
plus it means some of the newer people like me can meet new faces

Cheerz Marc.

OK lets get the ball rolling!
how about sunday 6th august (that gives us 3 weeks)

my suggestion is meeting up at Graze (beith) again for coffee and then take a drive out (back roads to Largs??) and then onto somewhere else?

edited to add - there is a classic car show at Eglington Park in Kilwinning on Sunday 6th too;
http://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/na/events.nsf/0/8F79BE004CD69D62802570DC005053F2?Opendocument
and i think there is another car show on the 1th - but finding info is impossible.......

any other suggestions?

I've sent an e-mail to my girlfriend asking if she's interested, but I'll probably be along regardless ~ I haven't met up with anyone since I bought the car.

Personally, I like the sound of the classic car show, although as it's a two-day event I think a lot of people might be packing up and leaving after Sunday lunchtime ~ we had that problem last year when we tried to go to a bike show in Irvine and found everyone going out just as we were going in.

G

Just to confirm - I phoned up the local council to confirm the event and the date (Classic car show at Eglinton Park, Sunday 6th Aug) and its definitly the one Ian, Scott and I attended last year, its reasonably big - it used to be held at Culzean Castle but got too big or something. Also, there is yank and hot rod show on the 20th Aug too.

Id suggest meeting at Graze in beith for the folk coming down from glasgow way (could give us a wee bit of a blast on some back roads then the bypass ;) ), or B&Q in stevenson - just off the A78 bypass.

Despite ritch_w posting confirmation of the details on Friday, and despite me OK'ing this with the girlfriend as a good day out on the last day of her holidays (she's off this coming week), I managed to convince myself that the event was today. Spent an hour at Graze this lunchtime eating a panini and looking out for other Galants.

Good job for me it's only about 15 minutes drive from my house. See you all next week, then...

Right, I was there, but missed most of you, I also think I missed someone that was watching the judging thang!. I live local and loads of people always nod to me at these things and I nod back!, and I don't know if I nodded (and didn't stop) to someone that I wanted to find, please accept my apologies.
I had a walk around the carpark and saw a couple of silver V6's and a dark blue estate, who were you??

gdelargy

Good to see old and new faces. Mhairi and myself had a good time, and we're glad the weather was so nice. It didn't occur to me until this morning, but we should have taken a few photos of the group at Graze before we left. D'oh!

We drove back via the coastal route through Largs, Wemyss Bay, Greenock, Gourock, with the only incident being a Mercedes E-Class on the M8 just past Glasgow Airport. I was in the middle of overtaking a car when he came up behind... and flashed his lights impatiently! I put the foot down and took it to 170kmh (apparently - I wasn't watching my speedo) before slowing back down and moving over when my car started to smell like something was on fire. Took him until after the Braehead turnoff to catch up, so we made a pantominme out of looking at our watches and waving at him as he passed.

Turned out to be a measly E230, so changing down to fourth was a waste of petrol...

If you mean the lanky skinhead and the brunette who were whispering and pointing at you, and could then only manage a quiet nod and hello, that'd be us! We were at the judging ring at about 3pm-ish as the last of the class-winning cars were circulating. Saw you (and your haircut), but since we've only met very briefly once before, we didn't know if you'd remember us from the last meet at Graze. We'll make sure we're a bit more friendly and less shy next time.

Hi, apologies to you both, I will buy the coffee's next time we meet, turned out to be quite a good day weather wise after the dodgy start in the morning. I liked the silver convertible citroen, the TVR, the turbo'd rat bike, the opel mantas!, the MK1 celica's (still got one rotting in the driveway awaiting it's turn), and the chocolate fudge!
