we've just got in from JAE (don't worry we'll be back tomorrow ) and just drying off , beautiful weather this morning , and then the heavens decided it had other plans for this afternoon as one hell of a storm descend upon us , there must have been at least 10 of us trying to hold the gazebo down in the wind , we gave up in the end and proceeded to take it down and try and stash it in one of the tents with every thing else being dumped in various other tents , it must have been quite an impressive sight for other clubs to watch as they all took shelter and watched all their possessions blowing about while we sorted things out with almost military precision . unfortunately i didn't get many pictures taken today for obvious reasons , but i will take plenty tomorrow

Was quite funny watching Barry and Flynn (richy's brother) having a shower under the rain

Yep got wetter than a Nymphomaniac at a Chippendales show. Was a great day until about 3ish though. Nice to see you and your significant other Paul, nice pics too.

I'm sure there will be another thread but while I remember... huge thanks to Lorraine and Danni (Flynn's Mrs) for taking care of the bin lids while I was getting wet.

Saw a few sights, namely barried up cars and scantily clad biatches - O...M...G for the latter, so pleased kate wasn't with me otherwise i'd have been like a cat on a hot tin roof all day. My dads got my camera in Egypt, so don't expect any pics from me.

Nice to see people again, shame more couldn't have been there but....

This really turned out to be an event with a difference. As always good to see peeps again and of course some new faces. Also thanks to the work put in by the lasses, keeping us all well fed - it was much appreciated.
The storm on Saturday was incredible. Strange looking sky, then the wind got up, more like a hurricane!!) and then it rained and I mean rained!! Lboots and I had just got a coffee and could not make it back to the site, so sheltered in a huge covered space, part of the showground. Even that was looking decidedly dodgy in the wind. Still no let up after about half an hour, so we thought we'd brave it, and had many laughing at us when we had to hide under another shelter as it came down even heavier again. That then flooded as we watched the water rise over our feet like an incoming tide. Anyway, that all sorted itself as time went on, and then came the evening/night/morning/pan . Needless to say a few bevvies were had:thinking: . I had just bought a small tent to stay overnight on the site(something we don't normally use) and it was worth every penny to be there. I'm sure others will explain in far greater detail than I can, but coutesy of BraindG, Flynn, Richy Rich, G6ACB and probably more I've missed, I don't think I have laughed so much in ages. Someone can explain 68, bogies, lumberjacking, stealth mode, Target practice on the dodgems and a whole lot more. Oh and fire handling/pan . There was also a fantastic firework display.
Today was also good and a couple more arrived who it was good to see. Mrs PSB went drifting with the Driftteam there and now just cant wait to go again. Did look good, watch your keys PSB
A really enjoyable weekend from CVR4 and thanks to everybody who attended for making it so good.

aye it was a good weekend , and as has been said , it was great to meet everyone again and to see some new faces as well . shame we didn't see much of Barry today , but that will come apparent why soon enough .
Aah yes the drifting , Hmm i think its a good job the V6 is front wheel drive otherwise i would be really paranoid :inquisiti .
I'll sort the photos out soon , most of them are of the drifters ( not the popular singing combo from the 60's) i think a few of them have been talking to heath about the correct racing line ;) the rest of the cars there although excellently turned out weren't eye catching enough to warrant any piccys , apart from the Datsun 260z owners club who had buggered of by the time i got over there with the camera :sad3:
again thanks to every body who made this a great meet :2thumbsup , and heres to next years being bigger and better :5shots:

Thanks for an absolutely fab weekend guys.... although I had a poorly hubby it did not spoil my enjoyment in the slightest ( he doesn't get Man Flu or the equivalent... only sissies get that:evilgrin: ) And I wasn't even put off by the storm from hell, mind you, i have to apologize for my attire at the end of it. Hope it didn't upset the kids Steve. Oh, and Antony, if you managed to take photos in that weather I will kill you:evilgrin:  ::iloveyou:
It was also lovely to meet new peeps and i hope that they join us again for more meets.

I seem to have been the only one that slept through the whole BOGEYS incident, and the 68 thing....well nothing surprises me with Flynne.

I think we may have a new active Widow in our fold in the form of Vicky ( Ader C misses) Give her a nudge mate and get her online:2thumbsup

this was because Danny had her mouth full.

the convo went like this,

Flynn; i don't do 69's i do 68's

us; wtf is a 68?

Flynn; same as a 69 but i owe her 1.

ok as ive wrote this it does not seem as funny but at the time we were rolling around the floor..

True, but it was one of the funniest moments, never laughed so much for a long time. :)

ok, time to tell the story about why i ended up at A&E on Sunday morning.

As last year, we decided to have a wee camp fire round which we can sit, drink and chat. Flynn and I disappeared for about 30 minutes while we traipsed around the car stands picking up all the sign posts. (wooden pegs with a4 paper stapled to it) Following this we went down to the woods, and gathered some real wood from under the trees.

Anyways, 4 hours later the large log (as seen in this photo (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=11951&stc=1&d=1153677034)) was placed on the fire to see us through the next few hours. I don't really recall this part, however an hour or so later I was slumped in my chair asleep, or at least nodding off. As with last years infamous tent incident the guys though I would be ok, and such left me there. I think it was Rich, but someone removed the log off the fire to prevent it from burning all night. I awoke within a few minutes and realised our prize log had moved from its burning position. I then grabbed the log using the palm of my hand to raise it back up, and onto the fire.

Ouch.

Next thing I know im being pulled out of my tent by Rich in my sleeping bag, its at this point I realise there is something up, as my hand was throbbing with pain. Thanks to Ad I put some antiseptic cream on it, and then there were a couple suggestions to go to A&E, so kindly Rich took me to the hospital where we were seen in 30 minutes. Turns out there was nothing the hospital could do, I was told that with burns you need to wait 24hrs to see any damage/infection etc. So this evening ill be off to the hospital again for a nother wee check up.

Moral to the story, don't let me fall asleep in my chair :D /lol

bradc

whoops the rofl wasn't at you Barry, I was replying at the same time.

That would be really painful, was your reaction sleep or alcohol related? I hope you're ok, and that it heals quickly. Was it your favoured hand for those nighttime activities?

Hahah, no :) - the only painful thing is the hand brake.. my thumb, and forefinger and that part of my palms fine, so its no bother to change gears... unless I forget :)

its not really all that sore in all fairness.. or, should I be looking for sympathy? in, which case..ouch, ouww.. its really bloody sorre :)

You can use your other hand when you are getting out of the car, but I bet hill starts are difficult.

How about typing on the keyboard, I'd be in hell if I couldn't type anything.

If you want sympathy, maybe I'll send you a copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking :D

And the bogeys?
the bogeys game roles

1 pick a location a quiet location where people could get annoyed of load noise IE liberary (we have jae camp at about 2in the morning)

2 take it in turns to say bogeys

3 the second has to be loader than the first and so on

4 the person that shout's the loudest is the winner

club vr4 jae twist is to get 5/6 people to shout bogeys
out as load as Poss and the get the next camp to do the same and then the next and so on till it comes back full circle which we did manage a few times.

The storm.

Here's my point of view from the infamous Storm of JAE 2006.

Adrian, I think? came back saying he just spoke to someone who said there was a massive storm a few miles away. At this point we couldn't really see anything in the sky, so we took it easy for a bit. Lorraine and I then decided to start putting some more pegs in, making sure the walls of the gazebo were not loose, and there was nothing that would cause the gazebo to flap about.

We must have spent I don't know, a good 30 minutes, maybe more sorting this out. We then sat down, chuffed in the knowledge we had accomplished our mission, and secured the gazebo. Shortly afterwards we seen this cloud coming. "OOOOHH That's a cracker.

12004

Then, it started.

Firstly the wind picked up, then came a wee bit of rain. However within minutes the wind had picked up tenfold, and the rain was really hard. Its at this point there was one person hanging onto each of the gazebos legs, with others hanging onto anything else that was blowing away. We very quickly realised that the wind, and rain was getting harder and harder, and there would be no chance the gazebo would hold up.. . or at least we were not going to test it!.. Lorraine leaves her leg, and runs outside to start unzipping, and removing the side walls. She was quickly followed by me and within a couple minutes the gazebo was down, the side walls in my tent, once the tent was down we grabbed everything that could get wet, and stowed them way into varies tents. Once this was done the woman, children, and wimps :p were safely tucked away in a few of the tents.

Looking around the camp site and car stands, we could see tents falling apart, wee 4 leg gazebos collapsing and things flying through the air. But then, things got really bad :) - lightning started going off all around us, and the hail was battering of our chests! It was quite an experience, to go from baking hot weather, to hail bouncing off you :) It was really refreshing though.

The guys next to us were having problems with their tent, so a bunch of us ran over to help hold it up while they done some repairs. Its at this point Flynn had a bright idea of getting the shower gel. What a cracking idea! so we had a shower :) Then, Flynn and I went for a small walk around to see if others were having problems with their tents, and needed our help.

Not wanting to get our tents wet, Wouter, Rich, Flynn and I ran off to the Huge Gazebo structure they have and hid from the weather for a bit. By this time I'd had enough of the weather, being a skinny git I was freezing cold due to the lack of fat. I was actually holding onto my beer like a hand warmer as it was hot in comparison to what was going on outside.

We all decided to head back to camp, and get changed, and warmed up, wow!.. ive never been so happy to get a t-shirt on :D

30 minutes later, the rain had stopped, the clouds started clearing, and it was time to put the gazebo back up!..

What a cracker.. loved it!
