Finally got off my arse...

Just rang insurance co. Now I am 25 and on a full my excess drops from $1500 to $300 :)

The test is awful...45 minutes without using the loud pedal. The car gods were out to get me as well...driving along the motorway at 70Km behind an old woman (and then later a truck) with the right-hand lane free. My gearbox must have been thinking who the hell is this driving, it didn't like it at all.

haha, my biggest problem will be sticking below 50kmh on normal roads, I can cruise at 90kmh without a problem on the motorway.

Congrats though, and your insurance obviously loves you.

Apparently, my excess shouldn't have been as high as $1500 anyway it should have been $1,000 and then $750 when I turned 25.

WOW! that is an incredible drop!

A few less things you can be fined for huh.

When I sat my restricted I pulled up behind a guy towing a boat. He decided to reverse and didn't look where he was going! His prop fin scraped along my bonnet which led to me throwing it in reverse and flooring it a few metres without even looking behind me. Passed the test with 81% :2thumbsup

Could've been a little kid behind me or something but hey saving the paint work seems to be worth a pass

when i booked my full license,

i picked to do it in rush hour trffic in the morning.
needless to say we got caught up in it,

so i did very little driving and passed without an issue

Noooo not a good idea, when i sat my full in the Henderson area, it was about 8:30am, and i had to stick to 50ks, in the end after flashing his lights, standing on the horn, a courier van finally put two wheels up the curb and sped past, it was terrifying at the time. There wasnt a whole lot i could have done, and the testing guy gave him the 'one gun salute' as he passed:happy:

I was a nervous wreck, and then i stalled twice, and still passed... No excuses Brad:2thumbsup

Thats what I'm most afraid of, sticking at 50k's for once and getting harrassed by other drivers for doing so. At least if I'm in the VR-4 I won't be able to stall it.

Congrats in getting your full Simon!...the possibilities are now limitless!

If it makes you feel any better Brad, I'll follow (closely) behind you while you sit your test....trust me!

I'd prefer it if you could drive in front of me at all times at exactly 45kmh, but I KNOW you won't have enough patience to do that in the car park let alone the road :)

I'll just put a big tacho on the dash or something so he can't see the speedo :) Or maybe I'll put the contrast on the dash right down so he can't see it haha.

I was lucky and got my licence over and done with before they changed the laws. When I did my restricted test (there wasn't a test for the full licence back in those days), I stuck to 50kmh and had a van right up my ass. The cop who was testing me (they used cops back then) actually got out of the car when we came to some lights and gave the guy a bollocking!
Then at the end of the test he even told me I passed but I drove too slow and should go at the speed of the traffic! hah my mates gave me sh1t after I told them that.

Man you must be old :P

I didn't have a problem on my restricted test, it only took 5 minutes, the guy said I was really comfortable behind the wheel and so on.

I thought restricted was an 18 months thing ??
Bloody stupid if it goes to 25, could be married with a couple of kids and they'd all have to follow you in a taxi ....

Actually, if you are on a restricted you are allowed your wife and kids in the car.

Let me go down on record as saying I don't intend to have a wife or kids before my full license :)
