My stationary computer has been broken a while and now that I have got it running and log on to clubvr4.com I seem to have come to a dead forum..?

What I mean is that I am the only person logged in and that no threads/replies have been written for several weeks..

I clearly see the difference with my laptop (which I'm using now)

I still get the emails about new replies in the threads that I am subscribed to, but when I click the link, I come to a page that says that the thread does not excist. Or I get to the thread but the last reply is several weeks old..

I know I changed some info a while ago when there were some issues with not getting access to the site.. I wonder If that could be the cause..? I have deleted all cookies also.

Yep have a look in the lmhosts or hosts file for an old entry to the old server ip address

new one should be 209.85.50.6

quick check to do first is open a command prompt and type

nslookup www.clubvr4.com

you should see some thing like this
nslookup www.clubvr4.com
*** Can't find server name for address 172.16.1.1: Non-existent domain
*** Default servers are not available
Server: UnKnown
Address: 172.16.1.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.clubvr4.com
Address: 209.85.50.6

you could try opening up a cmd, and typing ipconfig /flushdns ?
]
Shift F5 may do it too.

Ok, that seems to be the problem.. changed the adress in the hosts file, but still the same problem.. :( Is there anything else I need to do after changing to the correct address?

Hmm, I can't save over the hosts file only save it as hosts.txt .. It says that the file could not be created, check that searchpath and filename are correct.. And all I did was open up the file in notepad and change the IP and then try to save it..

also tried "ipconfig/flushdns" in cmd but still the same problem with the site..

Any idea on why I can't save the "hosts" file?
what kind of ending should it have? .txt is it not! right?

I referred to the hosts and lmhosts files.

I have tried deleting both cookies and all other temporary internet files, still not working..

Do I need to be in some kind of administrator mode to be able to save over the files?? Tried to change the settings, but apparently I failed.. :(

Hi Kalle - yeah as these are system files then you need admin rights to update them
