View Full Version : Rumors...

There are some nice rumors flowing around the net... about a twin turbo 3.8L V6(6G75) Mitsubishi car that will come out in 2007, pushing out 450bhp in stock form. It will be sold in US, that means some good "aftermarket" support...

Why this rumor is important to us? Look at the NA engine closely... It's 180 degrees from 6G72TT, but it's exactly the way we need it.

What do you think?

Isn't the starter motor in the wrong place? It is at the back on our cars, and that looks like it is at the front.

The starter motor is at the front on our cars. But I can't see the starter motor there. Are you sure you don't mean the alternator?

It could be interesting, but it will be a long time before I can afford that engine, let alone afford to try and get it in to my engine bay! I wonder if the manifolds/turbos will be useful?

Thought it was NA in the 380?

Who cares as long as it fits? ;)

The above picture is of (now produced) NA 3.8 V6 Galant/Eclipse/380... but the "word" is there will be 3.8 V6 TwinTurbo version of it as soon as 2007. :2thumbsup

Hopefully it will be badged ---> VR-4 ;)

Yeah sorry Alternator, I wasn't looking that closely.

I would consider buying a 380 if it had a reasonable body kit, a 6 speed manual, 4wd, and that engine, but something tells me mitsi will screw it up somehow.

you know they will, big engines for a small gearbox... is what i see anyway.

6 speed manual,
4WD,
450BHP 3.8L V6 TT
2+2

They always screw up in some department... but that didn't stop them from producing such cars as: EVOs1-9, Pajero EVO, Galant(6-8)/Legnum VR-4, GTO/3000GT, FTO... lets hope they don't give up on the "sporty" front.

EVO10 is almost there and that's a positive sign for me.

PS: Mitsu sold almost 60 000 cars in Russia in 2005... and they've got to do some researching long before bringing something in. ;)

If it is a 2+2 then it sounds to me like a 3000GT replacement. I wonder if they'll put that engine into any other cars, like the 380.

Awww, that would be me being dumb then!

Still i would love to have a new place to start. Guys are making stroker kits now for the 6G72 and 6G74 which will get close to that displacement but it would be great to have another engine to play with.

I agree about the box's though. They will build a fantastic engine.........

Cheers,

Ben.

I've seen the threads on 3SI about strocker kits for 6G72 and 6G74 engines, developed by Ray Pampena (and the other one by AA Performance guy). That's a good news too!

As much as I admire 3S cars (I am still on a lookout to buy one... we just don't have too many of them popping around for sale at any reasonable price... and I do want a 99 one) I would still love to see any viable upgrade option for 6a13TT ... and that's it! Although the 2+2, 4WD car looks more like a GTO/3000GT VR-4 replacement (that is if rumors do come out to be more than just rumors), the engine won't fit into 3S cars since it is turned around 180 degrees from how 6G72TT sits in the 3000GT VR-4 engine bay, but for us 6a13 owners it looks like it can fit!

I am sure I would love to see 3,8L V6 450bhp powered 4WD estate that can easily rival RS6 and keep it reliable ;) ...

Any ideas of the weight in this 3.8ltr beastie? Is it Aluminium?

I would emphasize on the word "rumor" here...

The guy I was talking to, works for Mitsubishi... and he wasn't supposed to tell, what others have told him, what they weren't supposed to hear... so on. I can only guess where it originated... ;) but from personal experience there is always "something" behind the talkā€¦ I really hope this one is for real. :beerbang:

Sorry Valmes, I thought the 3.8 lump was going into the 380 or something?

So sweat, just curious really.
