Why dont you take a photo of the front of the car and 'photoshop' it the same colour as the rest of the car to see if you like the look before you break out the spray cans??

if you have the silver grill then I would definately paint it, chrome is yucky

Nooo! Keep the Chrome! Gives the 'snout' of the car a bit of a styling accent!

The chrome standard grille for the GDI is ok, I would definitely leave it. If you had the old grey grille that most UK cars had 97-99 then I'd not be so quick to rule it out.
