Plastic backing on seats

Not that I ever sit in the back of my car but I really hate the plastic backing they have on the front seats. I think the leather interior cars dont have them am I right?

Anyway has anyone ever done anything (besides swapping the entire seats) to get rid of this hideous feature? If so what have you done?

I was thinking of covering it with some sort of softer material but maybe it wont look good ???

Leather seats have plastic backs too.

I must say I do appreciate the plastic when my two young kids kick the backs of the front seats with their dirty muddy shoes!

Yeah I can appreciate that but when adults or other large people sit in the back it can be quite uncomfortable on your knees. Can't believe the leather ones have it too!
