Robotnik123, can't have you missing out, especially after the bad luck with your wheels, I'll pick you up (or I'm sure someone else who lives near you will) if need be so at least we all get to meet and greet.

Oh thanks, but no worries. I'm using a loaner car at moment, so transport is not a problem. I can't go if it is this weekend or next weekend though, as I am in AKL all thru that week.

Sounds good to me. I'll be there with my old BMW, since my VR-4 will still be in Auckland.

As for a place to meet, the Thorndon New World parking lot might be good...

The 16th od september would be good to meet up at thorndon new world.what time is best.

OK times moving along and nothing seems to be getting finalised.

So what time were people thinking of getting together..........during the day so we can see the cars (and take /Camera maybe) or latter in the evening?

As to the venue/meeting place..............that does depend on what time we're meeting. I would have thought the New World car park in Thorndon was generally pretty busy (read full) alot of the time, both during the day and at night. An alternative with lots of space would be the Porirua MegaCentre car park, either down by Repco or up the northern end past the Warehouse. Both these areas of the carpark have always been generally emptyish whenever I've been out that way.

What say you guys..........open to other suggestions...........Petone foreshore by the wharf (not good in a southerly though.............sea spray etc), or Days Bay, though on fine day parking there is a REALLY BIG PROBLEM./Hissy

And is this just a place to meet and greet or a meeting place prior to going for a small cruise and possiblely on to another bigger/less crowded place to park up and look over the cars?

So what does everyone whose coming want to do?

sounds good to me bro... porirua seems to be a great place outside repco. enough for a few cars. There is a guy who works there (repco) who owns a Legnum VR-4. Maybe he might pop out dont know?. Its pretty low. ive seen it a few times but just noticed the guy must work dea. I can be dea during da day. no to the evening for me. If we meet here, then i can take a few photos have a look at ur guys setup.. blah blah blah.

so dats 2 for porirua! hehehe.. anyone else?

I vote for Mt Vic lookout cos that's just round by where I live, however Porirua is OK. Can me make it noon-ish as was proposed? I have things to do in the evening.

Well there's a split between Porirua and Mt Vic so.................lets do both:bananadan

A good excuse to go for a small cruise then. What say you guys.

The weather looks like it might do the decent thing and be OK :sunny: so if we meet at say Mt Victoria first and then drive out to Porirua to see if we can get to meet the 'Repco Guy' and check out his car.

Might even be able to get him to join CVR4 :deal2:

There are two other VR4's out Porirua way we might take a look at as well but I'll tell more when we get together.

Does this sound like a plan? We could of course do this in reverse if people wanted to......whatever.

Noon seems like a good time to meet unless someone can't make that.

Dixon8 will also be a starter so that's about half a dozen so far...........any others? :stupid: Lets see if we can get more people than those up the other end of the island. /STP

Come on, the more the merrier./Wyhy

Hey Dickies, hope you see this before you head out tomorrow./duh

We are meeting at Mt Vic first at around noon and then heading out to Porirua.

Not sure exactly what time we will get out to Porirua or whether all who meet at Mt Vic will follow us out there. Probably between 1 and 2pm at Repco.

Hope to see you at Repco at the latter time or at Mt Vic at noon.

Very Nice!

Good to meet you guys.

I've got a bit of a problem with my car though, I've just found. The panelbeater that did the repair to my car fitted a prefacelift bumper to my facelift car!

Hopefully they'll sort me the right bumper, but I'm going to be without my car for a while. Damn car must be cursed, ah well...

Oh that's just crap...........surely the panel beater saw what the one that came of the car looked like and should have seen the replacement was different! /duh

What was he thinking....that you wouldn't notice.....yeah right:|

Great to meet you guys as well................we'll just have to try harder to get more cars there next time..........the Aucks had a great turn out be the looks of it which is excellent to see.

Club VR4 was the winner on the day............till next time (hopefully sooner rather than latter).

Yeah you'd think they'd say, hang on a minute, the old bumper is different to the replacement, but apparently not. I am pretty upset.

Anyway, the panelbeater seems like a decent bloke, so I reckon if I turn up with some old photos of my car, as well as a few club photos of pre and post-facelift cars, he'll sort me out. It is very inconvenient however.

Oh on another note, I was at both Auckland and Wellington meetings today! I flew up this afternoon with the intention of picking up my car, right after the meet. I am not sure why I did not mention it to you guys this afternoon. :uhoh2:

Stink man,
wonder what other differences there are between the pre and post facelifts... and when exactly they made the switch, since mine is a 98 but still had the pre-face lift front bumber... i doubt its had a face transplant like your poor baby thou Dixon8 did mention he thought mine had been resprayed... :Thinking2:

guess i should search.. sure theres plenty of info on the differences

Look forward to seeing your wheels when you finally get them back robotnik123.

Yes, the bonnet, grill insert and front bumper are all different on a facelift.

The facelift happened sometime part way through 1998. Bradc for instance has a 1998 facelift. Your car is definitely pre-facelift, both the back and front are the prefacelift style.

The respray Dixon8 was talking about was probably from a minor bumper repair. A while back my bumper got a tear from going over a large pothole and I had the plastic rebonded and resprayed - the new paintwork didn't quite match on that repair.

The facelifts were first available in about September 98. You really need to get it sorted out mate - hopefully he doesn't try and charge you more.
