i am going up to a rolling road day in october and i will ask when there how much power he thinks they can get out the car. they do custom maps etc, no chipping.

come to think of it, is there anything to add more power to the V6?

well so far ive done,

3" custom stainless steal induction, with a 100mm feed from the front bumper.
need to make a heat shield still,
3" custom de-cat (stainless steal)
3" cat back fujitsubo exhaust (stainless steal)

i think the car runs to rich... hense i would like to do a map ecu and/or apexi SAFC

I found a site that did cams for the engine, but I got a funny feeling its for the VR4 6A13 and not the V6 one (although the cams should still be the same yeah?) Either way its $1100 US so dont fancy spending the cash.

I am really just looking for cheapish ways to get more power. :D

Why not swap the engine for 6a13 TT?
I doubt you can get much from NA... and I am sure 6a13 twin turbo will bolt right in - a whole new level of performance there! /Banana :smartass2

yeh that would be the easy thing to do,

but then i might aswell buy one,

and at $13000nz for the only green manual vr4 i can find,
its just not worth it for me.

oh a a turbo + maual conversion on mine would set me back atleast $4000.

just dont have that to spare,

just wanna see what the v6 can do without havent to spend a fortune

Would be an idea if I could find, as Gly said, the engine cheap enough with a manual box. But it all comes down to money at the end of the day.

I'd say that to get a noticable improvement on the v6 you'd need to spend quite a bit anyway. An ecu and tuning will easily be $1000, if not $1500, and anything else like cams or downpipes/manifolds will cost tons as well.

6A13TT have 4 cams, 6A13 only have 2.

Hordak responded well to a better exhaust system. Was very noticeable at higher revs. Not much else you could do - A HKS pod filter very slightly increased pulling power at about 80,000,000 rpm, but elsewhere it lost some pull, so I returned that to standard within about 2 hours!

actually, out of pure curiosity, in the UK, how much would such a conversion cost? all in!

In Russia you can get 6a13 tt from 800-1200$ (USD) complete with harness and ECU. I guess in Japan such engine could cost anywhere from 300-500$, why not try getting it direct from there? Try auctions.yahoo.co.jp

I am not arguing, of course it will cost money, but then again so will your plan of getting more HP out of NA. Although the difference will be HUGE! 280HP in stock form and ability to squeeze about 20 to 50 more vs. 175 stock HPs on NA version with a limit of probably 200 bhp at most (cost effective).

Might also carry some added stresses on the chassis, suspension and brakes, but i agree the power advantage would be worth it.

Oh and UK V6's are 161BHP :(

In NZ we see second hand ones popping up on our auction site every month or so, they tend to go for $500 to $1000, but I think Gly is more keen on slightly modifying the V6.
