Bit of an air leak has caused lean running and damage to a piston - anybody got one ?

I have 6, but I am afraid I need 'em!

Have a look at the donor car post........there is a V6 breaking with full leather and lots of toys, I think Mo was sniffing................ I suggested a group buy, as a whole car would have lots of bits. Its only £2500 ono......bargain!

Where was the air leak from? I guess a quick check over would be prudent!

my old engine is still in the car,, just a new back head.. the other engine, which was at VBJ's is long gone... will try to find out where it went though...

however, im having a horrible feeling im my stomach that im going to have to get a new engine for my car.. in which case i may have one left over.. but.. like mo, i might keep it to rebuild it.. but.. anyhoo.. none of this is confirmed so lets not go wandering down that ally..

Aaaaahh to be a contractor again! You have to admit it is nice getting a big fat pay cheque! I used to contract and I wouldn't grumble at getting another £10k pay cheque for 1 month!!!! :D

It was a one off.........it was more usually just £7-8k!

Did I really just say that?!!!

It was not all glamour and glitz though, I did 600 miles a week in the car minimum, all unpaid hours, was working 50-60 hours a week, had to rent a flat in Blackpool, and lived awy from my lovely wife for 3 years. Then there is tax and NI to consider..........

OK its a good crack but it is not for everyone!

Still a healthy profit though - but I can understand missing your wife....

Hang on - for that money, I think even the other half would say "s*d it - go!":D

I don't know where the leak was, but I could hear it just before the piston went pop. When I find out where it was I'll let you know.

Xtreme tell me that the VR4 pistons are different to the std V6 items.

Zedy, is that right you've got 12 VR4 pistons ? surley you could spare one, its only a V6 you know !

FTO LTD, good news - I'll PM you.

The air leak was to the MAP sensor of the Unichip - causing the Unichip to lose boost pressure info, so the fuelling and ignition was not being adjusted, ran lean, destroyed the middle piston on the front bank. No other damage to valves, rods etc.
