Hey dudes,
I'm up for new tyres pretty soon. :uhoh:

Can you put 225 tyres on the standard 205 rims..? If not, how wide can you go? I believe there are limits for such things, but I'm not sure what they are.

I did a quick search, but couldn't find anything on this.

Also, most posts seem to recommend Goodyear Eagle GDS3s. Is there much difference between them and the Eagles NCT5 tyres. There's very little price difference, but on the list I got, the NCT5s have more sizing options...

As far as I am aware, you have to stay with he same width of tyre that suit the rim, as it can cause problems with them running right/leaks etc.

I could be wrong and feel free to /pan if I am.

But I would not be taking the chance anyway....

Kenneth had 225/50 on the same style mags you have and they rolled a lot around corners, so I wouldn't really recommend it.

I have a set of EVO 7 mags for sale if you're keen - $500 and you can fit 235/45/17's on them, Hyper are doing them for $199 each at the moment

Thanks dude, but I'm not a big fan of those rims... they just seem a bit 2-dimensional to me... :embarasse

Great offer though man - I'm humbled.

Yep, 225s are too big for the pre-facelift rims... the handling suffers and you could push my car sideways while it is sitting stationary about an inch.

You would be much better with the 205/55 R16s and making sure you get a good tyre compound :)

Slimmer tyres will also give better fuel economy (all else being equal)
