View Full Version : Lash Adjuster Fitting Weekend!

Nick Mann
31-08-2006, 01:40 PM
As promised, I will host a lash adjuster swapping party, for those of you in the group buy who want to fit them yourselves. This will take place on 16th/17th September.

If you want to come for a few hours, or even a few days, please sign up below! I will have an empty house for the weekend as Vicky will be on the IOM, so bring some booze and food and you will be welcome to stay as long as you like!

I have also spoken to WRD, who will be making an appearance to sort any other problems and issues you may have. They can also be hired to fit your lashers if you don't want to get your hands dirty yourself. (Remember, I am going to be showing you, not doing it for you!) If you think you need anything specific from WRD, please contact them direct before hand.

So to sum up - Lots of blokes, (women welcome too!!!) beer, horsepower and grease. Sounds like it could be a top weekend!!

Please let me know below if you are coming, when you are arriving and when you are leaving.

Hmm, sounds good, weekends are always cr*p for me, working fri, sat and sun nights in London so not sure if wise to chance not being able to get back in time. May book WRD services to do it at yours...if it's an option..

ahhh cra@p i might be in the US. if that's the case i might have to ask WRD to do this ... i really fancied trying to do it myself as well.

Nick Mann
31-08-2006, 08:46 PM
Bal - I'm sure there will be photos taken and a procedure written.

Stuey - any day other than a weekend is difficult for me, and I don't get many weekends that aren't booked! Sorry! I'm sure WRD will be interested in doing a super quick job for you - get in touch with them!

Steve - who said no curry?!?!?

Paul - I have all the tools necessary, so sharing can occur. I guess if no-one brings any then it will slow us down a bit. To be honest, a socket set and a crow bar will do most of the job!

I do have an ATF flush to do and I could always make the Tea :D

As I only found out about this reading this post I can only help by sending richy down with some home made curry, that is unless you guys are planning take away then I wont bother.

Still will send enough for 4 or 5 peeps then you can fight over it.

I won't get there until Saturday late afternoon/evening. But I don't suppose that matters as i'm only coming for a bit of social. I'm happy to park on the road or up the street or... shotgun on a garage space!

Nick Mann
05-09-2006, 03:49 PM
To be honest - we should get four cars on the drive with a bit of space to work. It might be tight! We shouldn't be working on more than four at a time anyway!

Can I suggest that people bring a socket set, some spanners and possibly a jack of some sort? I have a fair few tools, but I don't have four of everything!!

One other thing - I have got some oil on the drive when working on the car in the past. I was in a lot of trouble. So if you have old sheets, oil catch trays, bits of wood for jacks/axle stands to stand on etc to protect the drive, I would be eternally gratefull!

Also oily clothes off before entering rooms with carpets! That has got me in hot water before too!

And did I mention beer? :-ished:

Lorraine - thanks very much for you very kind curry offer, but there are far too many of us for me to take you up on it. I think take out could be a better, if less tasty and less healthy, option.

I'm really looking forward to this now!!

06-09-2006, 01:36 PM
I think Vicky has done a pdf of directions, that includes our address. I'll sort that out this weekend and distribute it. Kieran and Richy Rich are coming for two nights, so I have given them the rights to the beds. I do have an air matress for one lucky blighter, but after that you will have to bring bedding. There is plenty of floor space plus a couple of sofas, so there should be enough room.

See you all in ten days!

If it rains an is not to Windy. The Blue Sheeting that you can get from B&Q for about £3-4. Approx 5msq.With the Bonnet Up can be used over the top of your bonnet and tucked in near the screen to shelter you from the rain. Works a treat. :vulcan:

Your lifters weekend must have had an effect on me ...... I dreamed about y'all last night. Can't recollect the dream in detail but I do remember that you had somehow got all the sets of lifters muddled up with each other and an argument was taking place.

Probably caused by the drink I guess! :sad3:

When I got here this evening, only Nick was still standing, Kieran had been KO'd, Rich was speeding away in the tranny and all other were lying on the floor in a bloody state. You could make money from those dreams Rich, be careful of the men in white coats though

We have fitted two sets. My car and Stueys. My car would have taken three hours if we hadn't
Stripped a couple of threads
Dropped a bolt it took us ages to find
Stripped the whole inlet system (fuel rails etc) to find the bolt!
Sheared a bolt off
Gone to collect KFC for 6!
Gone to four places to try and buy a die/helicoil set unsuccessfully.

As it was it took over 6 hours! Less next time though.

My car sounds absolutely sweet!! /yes

Guys,

I'm gutted I couldn't make it and really sorry that I didnt get a chance to get online and let you know!

Bird calls me yesterday morning (while i was sorting myself out to leave) and her car was stuck in the middle of the road cos the handbrake had seized on - on a high street!! You couldn't push the car or anything so of course off i went. That ended up taking 3 hours to just get the car back home again. And then of course the next job was wheel off, drum off and loads of fiddling. By this time i hadn't fixed the job and it was 3pm!

I finally got back to mine at 6pm, which was obviously too late for you guys , so i went out and got wasted instead!

ANyways, i'll still get to meet you lot at japfest in 2 weeks, so its all good! And in the mean time, I hope to see a fitting guide pop up in the future!

Cheers to Nick for letting his drive look like a workshop, sorry for not sayibg farewell fella, had to rush off like the wind to make it back in time, just made it, (after using £35 of petrol for 115 miles, car was running that bad)
My car, well few running hiccups after re-assembly, those who were there knew all about it, hope Pezza can help sort out with his mate in next few days. stuffed for time too as off working in a minute, and then off straight to austria in middle of night till tuesday. I'll let you know what it was, gotta be something stupid, broken wire etc.
Hope had a good night last night, and hope all goes well today fellas

We also got a few jobs done on my car, fitted a cunning new interior to Nicks car (well, Nick and his mate did anyway!!), Wildcards did a pump and FPR (although the FPR gauge seems to be a bit wonky?) and we gave AncientofMu's Legnum a fresh set of gearbox, AYC, xfer box and rear diff fluids.

A bloody good weekend in all, thanks to Nick for putting us all up, and keeping us fed - (Mmmm, Curry)!! as we worked/played!

Seriously, I know I've already said it, but Nick's car sounds like brand new. When started, all you hear is the exhaust rumble and the belts. That's it. No tapping, knocking, thumping or rattling! The difference is incredible!

Biggety Biggety Biggup to Nick for the superb hospitality again this weekend, to Rich for fitting my bits'n'bobs and to Kieran, Don and Tim for a great laugh on Saturday night.

We even managed to create a new fluid measurement system :lipseal

Nicks car looks great with the cloth interior, it really matches the car well IMO, and Kierans new goodies are awesome, made me green with envy when I saw what he'd got.

See you in a fortnight /grouphug

K and I have just got home - after stopping to pick up yet another parcel from Japan :uhoh2:

You'd think K would have had his fill of cars this weekend, but he's intending to continue working on Ariadne until he goes back to work on Wednesday! :vogel:

Thanks to Lilly for a really good weekend, her excellent cooking, the girly chats and pampering, and for helping me get through too many bottles of wine to count! Must do it again mate :iloveyou:

As for the car, Lilly was not exaggerating about how loud it is. I made the mistake of trying to call my mum, and couldn't hear a word she said! What were you boys thinking letting K do that??!

I know that K had a fantastic time this weekend, and I dare say he'll fill you all in on his latest additions later.

See you all at JF2

What a weekend. Got home at 23:30, yes I went the wrong way down the M42 and ended up on the M6 toll :uhoh: .

HUGE thanks to both Nick and Vicky for the use of facilities.

Kieren you rock :guitarist

Also big thanks to Richy Rich for the help on sunday.
Saturday night was a blast, Nick whats the postage on that 100% proof Southern Comfort? Do you ship to Royston?.

The new weights and measures system still needs further research I think :p .

Steve, great to catch up with you again and nice to drool over the Super :D.

Brunty and Stuey nice to meet both of you. Also Tim deserves a mention as being a very nice Evo owner and damn good at working on interiors, as well as Lash Adjusters.

Gutted I missed out on the group buy, my car is BAAAD, Tick Tick Tick :bigcry:

Short list of work completed over the weekend.

Front Bumper removed, fixed and repaint of lower grill, looks so much better in black :guitarist.
ATF Flush and fill with Amsoil (HUGE difference NO 4th gear judder and soooo much smoother changes)
Transfer Box Fluid change with Amsoil.
Rear Diff Fluid change with Amsoil.
AYC Fluid change with Amsoil.

(now I really wish I had bought Amsoil engine oil..... next oil change I will definatly get Amsoil  )

And last but no means least I now have a genuine Ralliart Backbox. /Poms

No chance to unload so my car is substantilly lowered with all the stuff its full of :p.

Sorry I can't make Japfest II, pretty gutted about that.

Next year will be a good one.

Once again big thanks to everyone. :chugchug:

Keep your eyes open in the member's area Pezz - Some reviews will be dropping in - some of the mods are now indeed 'declassified'! ;)

I am happy with the way the car's coming along - Gonna be tight getting it completely ready for Donny, but it's now operational and feeling a lot better. Still some maintenance work (plugs, belts and a few other odds n'sods) to sort out, so no track time this year, but 2007 bodes very well.

Just got to do something with the two oldies in the garage so I can get the Legnum in there now!!

How long did the FPR upgrade take? From reading Bern's article it does sound like it could be a tricky/fiddly job... Was engine bay covered in fuel after disconnecting original FPR?

Well, Rich kinda did it for me so considerably less time that it would have taken me, but still probably 2 hours. An inlet pipe full of fuel dripped out when disconnected but it wasn't much. The only problem I had is that the FPR works, but the gauge doesn't seem to work.

once the bracket has been moded and read though the how to. then try and find out why the gauge isnt working then.

then only about 1/2h -1hr

well cheers for a good laugh this weekend gents :)

not a difficult job, I bet Steve 'not technical' Spanners could get it done with a bit of help in under 4 hours... depending on how many bolts get dropped, spanners lost, threads stripped and screws shear off...

welll at least the elusive spanner isn't going to drop somewhere in the engine bay like a proverbial, eh Steve? :D

Everyone knows the superior wheelsbase of the Legnum makes for better handling ability and the super amounts of lag in an EVO means my car would be quicker than yours to 60. And the dyno you use isn't as good as the dyno I use.
