... today, wasnt that impressed, I was with the suspension, solid as a rock. Its that HKS damper kit im after.. the car, felt very skittery when you floor it coming of a roundabout.. not sure exactly why.. having never driven one i dont know any different.. Its not got the kick of the VR4 either! bit Ghey actually, maybe i jsut didnt push the car to its limits... but then again it was a brand new 8k miles car :Eyecrazy:

pfff, kiddies toy :uhoh:

I've only driven a 5, and it was scary fast, even with 4 fat bar-stewards in it :Eyecrazy:

I've been told the VII is very similar in power, so there may have been something wrong with that one.

I hope not though :p

Well to be honest I was disappointed when I drove a stock EVO X, it didn't have any extra power over a stock VR-4 but had more lag.

I've driven a number of EVO 5-9's that have been modified and they've all been fairly barebones and raw feeling cars, but at least they had the power to make up for it, the EVO X just didn't.

Having lived with and worked on varying Evo's I can say that they do vary in drive experience. My first was an Evo 1, I found the 1st gen Evo's very pure and raw to drive, then there was a 4, this was just very disappointing, felt flat. Then there was my 5 which I lived with day in day out, just pure aggression! Chipped and lightly fettled to 370 horses, was just pure animal with unmatched feel, even with std brakes and suspension. Then came time to try a low mileage 7, yes, fast but felt to soft and refined. Thought it was just me getting used to fast cars, but no, I worked on and drove an 8 and it felt more or less the same as the 7, too refined.

Did you say the 7 you drove had a suspension kit? Skittish feel could be down to incorrectly adjusted, needs setting up.

Yea, I agree, the evo 7 is just far too soft and refined for my liking. It seems to be the thing with the new versions of the evo, the first of the new series is always disappointing.

I'd take any evo 1-6.5 over the 7-9, as for the 10, I haven't decided on it yet really.

I haven't touched a 9 or 10 as of yet, wouldn't mind seeing how they have merged the MIVEC with 'charged for power delivery though.......

You don't noticed mivec at all. It may be very slightly noticable if you went straight from an EVO 8 to an EVO 9, but the 6A13TT still has way better power delivery and is much smoother.
