After playing with my boost controller to the point that my fingers have worn away.........I have managed to shave a huge chunk off my 0-62mph INSERT INTO post VALUES (100kph) times :cool1:

Tonight I got in AUTO

5.87s

and in TIPTRONIC

5.41s

wicked!

Pre NOS?

OMG, what are you going to be doing with NOS? ;)

enigma
06-11-2003, 02:04 PM
That is before the happy gas! I am well pleased!

I expect NOS will only really make a difference once I get going, low gears will just light up the tyres! May knock a fraction off here or there but I reckon 4.5-4.8 would be pretty much the limit. :D

At what rpms did u shift in Tiptronic?

enigma
07-11-2003, 09:06 AM
Shifted at just after 6000.....maybe 64-6600. As I have a really wide power band now there is no point in redlining it INSERT INTO post VALUES (like the AUTO mode wants to do!) Leave it in second and let the good times roll!

:nono: you wanna be a little less haesh on it. did u get the directions

enigma

Got the directions.....will see you about 12-12:30 if thats ok

I thought shifting way below the red line was being gentle :D

Interesting, i will have a play at the next drag meet.

I want to do some tests with the RSM and or the boost controller logging speed, acceleration, and rpm. The aim will be to see where I need to shift to give the maximum available acceleration all the way through the gears. Not quite sure how I can do it as the graph functions although pretty do not give values. I thought about videoing the screen and then frame by frame manually entering details in to Excel. Problem is, its time consiming and requires a large stretch of road that is empty so that I can do several runs!

Thats great Dave,

It would be good to know just what is the best way to go about it. I've always drag mine in auto mode.

Went to the drags yesterday, found no difference in times when in Auto mode to Tiptronic mode.

enigma

What times did you run?

-LegnumVR4-
15-11-2003, 01:04 AM
14.3's on each run, auto or manual shifting. My 60ft times were bad at 2.111 plus my reaction times were crap too. Not sure about these autos, get the feeling they choose when they want to perform good or bad :)

Manual Galants, stock were doing 13.8-9sec 1/4 miles. I would like to see one boosted with exhaust, filter. Should see one break into the 12s.

Oh yeah I was up against a manual GTB Subaru, stripped out, full exhaust/filter and 17psi of boost. Took him down on every run even when my times are slower than betfore. Mine is run in full trim exhaust/filter with 13.5 psi. Says a bit for the Legnum wagons.

I cant understand the differences in times you guys seem to be getting? Especially the stock ones.......they really shouldn't be that quick!

Due to the fact its winter here we wont get any chance to push our cars hard for a good few months and the Drag Strip isn't open again until February.....even then it will probably be covered in snow! :Cry1:

suppose me and you go for a ride up york sometime is it any good at york

enigma
15-11-2003, 10:25 AM
I think that could be a distinct possibility!

I have never been to York, but 1/4 mile of tarmac has got to be good! :D

Not sure if they do RWYB days.....but I am sure they must!

From the factory the manual Galant VR-4 can do a 13.9sec 1/4 mile.

There are a few mistakes on the page as the times are posted for the auto model but its really for the manual model.
