Is it worth wrapping the downpipes to in prove performance?I have heard it done before to keep in and in theory this is supposed to speed up the flow. But i have also heard that it shortens the life of the exhaust.

I've heard it can crack exhaust manifolds as well because it will obviously insulate them and keep them warmer.

The benefits are that you will have less heat in the engine bay as well as a small increase in performance. I think Dave is selling some exhaust manifolds and the stock downpipes cheaply, you could buy his and experiment :)

It's a popular mod on Hondas, but I haven't seen it done on any other engine. Let us know how you get on if you do it Paul.

The theorys good but the wrap does cause corrosion to the normal mild steel pipes. Personally having tried it I think the biggest benifit it that it stops all that heat disipating in the engine bay.
