I've had this for a while now.
It ticks all the time, though goes away when I rev it high enough.

I know this has been discussed many times before but the ticking is periodic from loud to quiet to nothing to quiet to loud.e.g. TICK TICK TICK tick tick tick ick ick ck - no tick - ck ck ick tick tick tick TICK TICK TICK and the cycle just repeats.

I had the oil(mobile1) checked out with tests, and it was still good (7K done) and no need to change it.

Is this a bad sign of things to come?

this is normal for these engines if the lifters are blocked

not a big concern but to get rid id do an engine flush with amsoil then 3/4000 miles do it again this should cure it for a long time.


or get uprated lifters

You can get additives which you add with your normal oil and they will help remove any gunk which may be blocking the oilways in the lifters.
Im using the Wynns one as preventative at the mo.
