Hi

My key fob for the Cobra alarm system seems to have a very limited range. Often I have to stand right next to the car to make it work. I've tried both the fobs and changed the batteries. I also understand that RF interference can limit the range but this seems to happen everywhere. Often the problem is so bad that it won't unlock when standing at the boot of the car and i need tp walk to the side to get it to open or lock.

Any thoughts on what I can do about this, if anything?

Car is GLX 2.0 SE
Cheers

range is poor (standard feature i think!)
could be needing a new battery - should be ok up to approx 20ft

This happens to me sometimes ...... not often though.

Apparently if you hold the fob up to your head and press it - it increases the range. Always sounds rubbish to me but simple enough to try.

I always thought this was a security feature to stop people picking up your signal

The cobra alarms that I have had all had a good range - except for the VR4's. I was told that cat 1 alarms can't have a high range - the signal stays local to the fob for security reasons. So the cat 2 cobras had a good range, but the cat 1 didn't.

hold it up against your chin

does wonders to the range and warms your brain up ;)

Instead of quickly pressing the fob buttons try holding them down for a good second or two. I find this works better.

Definately a weak battery results in having to stand right by the car, with a new battery mine can work about 25ft away. The head trick works well.......try holding it to your temple.....it works !
