Morning folks

Just had a quick question and wondered if anyone is running 225 tyres on any evo or 8 inch rims? Or Maybe 235 with 40 profiles?

I am running standard suspension (I think) although facelift wheel arch kit may make it appear lower sometimes. The car is frequently fully loaded with kit or passengers. The clearance, at rest in these conditions, is about an index and middle finger but at speed on motorway it will catch occasionally.

Now, I may lower front which may provide more clearance for rears but
was also thinking of 225 tyres or maybe even 235 40s to help?

Has anyone tried either of the above?

Also wonder how much the wheels are pulled inwards (increasing -ve camber)when the suspension is compressed.

Cheers all...

im running 225/40/18s dunlop dz101s
on a 18" x 8.5" rim with 35 offset.

be careful when selecting you wheels/tyres as they come close to the suspension arms.

my car is lowered on a hard bump the rear rubbed a bit on the rear guards.

when the car as as low as you describe when loaded up. (finger gap -ish)
there will be about 3 degrees on the rear and about 2.5 on the front.
this amout of camber constantly will eat the inside of your tyres in about a year.

check out my camber fix guide....

I'd go with 225/45's. I'm running 235/45's and it rubs around corners if anything is in the back. I'd prefer to have a greater profile and less width as opposed to the reverse as less tyre can mean a harsher ride.

Yeh I think I will try 225s then... Will get cheaper rubber to see how they fair
then..

Cheers for info and Gly top job on the camber article... Should I look at lowering the car will think about that... the thing is.. even with *standard* setup
I get aggressive in inside edge wear so camber maybe issue atthis moment..

If you go with 17" wheels then 235/45 will rub a bit, especially when the car is loaded. I would go with 235/40 or 225/45. With 18" tyres you want 225/40 if you don't want the tyres to rub much.

Of course this also depends on your offset, do you already have the wheels you're talking about?

it will be stamp inside of the rim somewhere.

something like ET35 or 35P

Brad I already have the wheels they came off an evo 8, so standard offset there.

Hoping I can get away with 225 tyres clearing arches completely with loaded car... maybe I will have to look at suspension to stiffen up at standard ride height too...

standard evo offset is 38 i think where as the standar legnum offset is 45,
also the evo rim is 7.5" wide and the
legnum wheels are 6" on a pre and 6.5" on post

the 225s will be your best bet, but a slight guard roll on the rear wouldnt go amiss.

EVO VIII wheels are 8" wide i'm pretty sure.

Pezz, my 235's rub ever so slightly when loaded, 225's will give you enough room mate. I'll show you at the weekend if your up.

..but a slight guard roll on the rear wouldnt go amiss.

Hoping I wont need to.. Maybe I can use spring inserts , to reduce max compression or bricks :D :speechles

mytyres have Eagle F1s for under 80 each? Never tried these before but maybe now's the time? /Hmmm

EVO 6 wheels are 7.5", EVO 7+8+9 are all 8" wide.

Lots of people have the 8" wide wheels and most people have reported rubbing when the car is heavily loaded. You either need to get the guards rolled or do something with the suspension like what you've already thought about.

I have 18x8's with 225/40/18's on it and have no troubles.. only have problems with the tyres being too stretched that the rim protectors are usless...

I am running 225/45/17 on EVO Enkei rims and I have never had any rubbing issues, even with 4 people in the car. Standard suspension set-up on a facelift saloon...if that helps.
