Quite interesting Pete ....... the guy filming it is certainly not the fastest in that race by any account but I timed three of his laps and he did laps in 1.01 mins, 1.03 and 1.01 whithout any traffic issues.

Donington need VERY special and extremely infrequently granted permission to host an event louder than 98Db. Those of us driving at the start of this month were told that all the planes at East Midlands airport were specially calibrated not to exceed that same level!

For those coming simply to spectate and possibly have passenger seat rides bear in mind that this is a 'closed' type circuit.

Not sure what this particular event's rules will be but all track cars need to be INSIDE the circuit for signing on and then the exit will be closed until lunchtime. You may be able to blag your way inside providing you are there early enough. The alternative is to use the footbridge if you arrive later.

(Oh by the way, all pets, animals, kettles etc are banned from this circuit) :sad3:

Suggest you try this hotel. Just around the corner from the one we all stayed at and on the correct road for Mallory Park as well.

If you stay further away (en route) you would have an even earlier start on Saturday morning as we MUST be there on time or won't get on track as closed off when racing starts.

I remembered you posted this when I booked and just had another look on the website.....this is what it says:


"We do not charge for use of garages, and all pit garages are taken on a first come, first served basis. Should you wish to reserve a garage (in case of late arrival) you can do this at a cost of £25. Please note that unless a garage is reserved, BaT reserve the right to allocate garages at any time during the day - to give shelter for open-top cars for example."

I've devised a plan in respect of the Ruf Porsche. Derek, Heath and Pete will drive alongside each other for at least one lap holding up the Porsche ...... whilst I follow with video on. At an agreed signal, I will accelerate hard past the Porsche and at the same moment Pete will suddenly move forward, making a gap to let me through.

Editing the video afterwards will make it look as if the VR4 pi$$ed on the Porsche!

Lol, I'd love to really do that and post it on the Porsche forum ......... mind you, Kev should be able to do that shortly.

We managed to get an excellent deal with Holiday Inn. We are staying off J2 of the M6 (Coventry), so we can get straight onto the M69 in the morning - it's 19miles from Mallory.

Hotel has indoor pool, sauna, gym etc and it's less distance to travel on the Friday. And all for just £42 :2thumbsup

Of course it means we will just meet you guys there on the Saturday morning.

It's been touch & go over the past week or so, but it's now race prepared barring swapping the exhaust. [ I dont want to, but not sure 108db will go down too well ] /Grrr

I'm also hoping to bin the CVR4 babes & come on my own, & maybe hotel on the saturday night. Rhianne & Jenny can p!ss off, I just dont want to let my daughters down.... they are so looking forward to it. :iloveyou:

If you are going to arrive at that time then I suggest you try and get inside like everyone tracking. You will then be with us all as a group.

It may be that you will be able to drive straight in without any questions asked but if the guy on the gate does ask questions just say that you are with me as a passenger on track (Richard Davies car reg: R 298 UDD). I doubt it will be a problem.

I don't know what time you want to leave so bear in mind that once inside you are trapped until lunch time or when the day finishes at about 17.00.

I'll PM my mobile in case you want any help.

We are meeting up with some reprobates enroute and should arrive sometime before midnight, all being well.

I did look about ages and it says minimum of 16, but it's at their discression. I was hoping to see if they will let me take Conor out (even if at lunchtime), but he's only 10 so I doubt it.

I see there are 3 x 20mins sessions per hour. So I reckon 7 sessions each during the day.

If the circuit is 1.3miles, and an average lap is approx 1min then I reckon you could look at say 17 laps per session - to allow for a warm up and cool down lap.

17 laps x 1.3miles = 22 miles per session x 7 = 154 miles @5mpg = 31 gallons of fuel = 140 litres = £140 in fuel ???? /lol
