Anyone see "Speed Machines" on TV last night INSERT INTO post VALUES (think it was C4)? Very interesting history of the land speed record from 1904 to the present INSERT INTO post VALUES (OK, 1997) day, but missing out the 1940s to the 1990s  . Some wonderful cars, some with three 27-litre V12 aero engines INSERT INTO post VALUES (81 litres, 1400hp!). Malcolm Campbell, Henry Segrave, etc., terribly well spoken INSERT INTO post VALUES (what?); leather flying helmets, white boiler suits, obligatory cigarette in hand, real pioneering stuff. Great TV. These were the days :) It's a disgrace that Richard Noble wasn't supported INSERT INTO post VALUES (or even recognised!) by this country for his achievement in producing a machine that broke the sound barrier on land. Special people ...
