I've only got a standard v6-24 but I'm itching to try it out on a track. Can anyone give me any pointers of track driving?

You can buy track insurance..... I can't tell you who from but I know you can as there are some members with it.

There is no camping at coombe... I think most members book at the ibis near by.

As far as I know you can buy track passes for multiple drivers but can't interchange bands between drivers.

i am sure other members will be able to help more.:2thumbsup

Nick Mann
08-01-2007, 09:24 PM
The track session is for the driver. You can buy two sessions and have two drivers, but you will not be able to change drivers during the session. The car you are driving doesn't matter, providing it is road legal and meets the noise requirements.

Hope that helps!

I'm possibly moving to Germany so I can't commit to attending. As it stands we will be there and my mate wants to bring his FTO.
Will there be any camping facilities? Is there any way of holding a provisional stand position without buying a ticket? At the price they are going for I'm likely to buy two for us now and worry about his later. Chances are it'll be Jne/July before we get to Germany any way.

Nick Mann
27-03-2007, 07:09 PM
There are no camping facilities. Most of us are hotelling, see earlier in this thread for details.
I would say if you want a stand space then book a ticket - sorry, but it is difficult to organise anyway, without having lists of people who might be able to attend. Nothing personal!
Hope the move goes well, but late enough so you can attend!

Nick Mann

I can increase the entry ticket order if we sell over 50. So don't worry - If you want an entry ticket, book away! More than 50 ticket sales means a bit of profit for the club - I can stil order more, get more and sell more.

However, track time and stand space is not negotiable. If you want it, get it whilst it is still available.

Track time is now sold out.

You can still get entry tickets via the shop as follows:

Members - £10
Non-members - £12

We will set a cut-off date for these soon.

If you book any entry tickets, please post up on here if you want a stand space, there are currently 9 left. These will be allocated on a first paid, first served basis.

Our "Usual Suspects" have decided to park off the stand now as they all have several sessions booked and it will be easier for them to park in the "trackers" allocated parking - also they are all non-Galants/Legnums - so they have been gracious enough to free up the spaces for any others.

That is my reason for not going on the track, I just can't afford for it not to make it all the way round and/or home afterwards. Where I work there is no public transport to get to work and the only person to live less than 20 miles away from me changed jobs last month.

Just a quick note regarding the CVR4 T-Shirts.

For those that didn't attend last years Japfest, we had a raffle of sorts where numbers were picked out of a Hat, winners were able to choose a prize from the selection on offer.

This year as you are aware CVR4 has bought each of the main drivers a Limited edition CVR4 T-Shirt. All we ask is that this T-Shirt is worn for the Photo shoot which Nick outlined above at 11:30 - something along the same vain as this pic (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/Gallery/showphoto.php?photo=572&cat=527) - However you are welcome to wear it all day :D

What pressure you getting?

Sounds like you have got a lot still to do mate ... /pan

Start up from cold I am reading 4 kg/cm2 which is about 56 psi. When the oil is fully up to temp it drops back to about 1 kg/cm2 which is about 14 psi at idle. Whenever I rev the engine or put my foot down the pressure shoots up nice and healthy. I have not been on a 60 limit road yet, just the 30 and 40s around here and I have managed to get it up to 5 kg/cm2 (70 psi) no problem.

Looks much, much better than before /yes

Bleh! Sod the rain! Much to my neighbour's amusement, every night this week I've been running around preening! A poxy spinkling of water won't put me of!/pan

It's not so much the rain as the muddy roads I have to drive to and from work down once I spend 4 hours cleaning!

Sounds healthy enough:thumbsup:

Still no brakes arrived - oh well fit 'em next week for RT

And Mr. Mann - many appologies, not being paying enough attention to this thread. Got my tickets safely thank you.

Sorry but have to join the list of "maybe dirty". Plan at the moment is to get to the hotel early enough to wash the car tomorrow night......if it ain't raining of course. I can see quick detailer coming to the rescue again.

Had an absolutely brilliant time yesterday. It was great to see everyone again and to put some more names to faces. The two track sessions were superb. I didn't really hold back and really enjoyed myself. And the car (touches wood) seems to have got through the day OK. I was very pleased with my EBC brakes -I did not experience brake fade once! Combe is an awesome track and come the second session I was barreling into Quarry at 120mph on every lap, which is an awesome feeling ... and not bad on standard power /rally

A big big thank you to Nick and the others from committee for organising such a wonderful event again ...

I didn't do too bad at all, rolled home about 7 AND AND AND I managed to do the whole day on 1 tank of fuel!! 320 miles eek!

You all looked great on your lap at about 3pm, I was jealous that I wasn't out there with you all :(

But, I had two great sessions myself, all be it with one dramatic spin at quarry corner. I was with the GTiR club, which although faster cars, couldn't get anywhere near me (bar one, which was tuned to 400+, but I still held him off).

My tyres let me down, left side front has almost completely perished, and with the clockwise nature of the track, my second session was hairy (hence nice spin). Two slower laps later I got a bit of confidence back up, and with that 400+bhp Pulsar gaining, I thought 'no chance'.

Phil in the TME was long gone. Had an excellent session with him at 3.30pm. We started right out at the back, and come up 3rd. It was a mad session, more traffic than you could shake a stick at. It was even more difficult that the 323s were let out of the cage before us. There were plenty of matched cars, some with serious power, but his TME out manouvered most, although not matching them for power. A bit like the Leggy vs Pulsars.

I've got a few clips of you between Bobbies and Westway. Who was in the Maroon(ish) leggy that decided they wanted to go for a long stroll on the grass? Well held together once on there I might add :)

Brilliant day.... would like to thanks all the committee for their involvement in making it such a special day and I would also like to thank James ( Jimbo) for kindly agreeing to allow Adam to go out with him for his very first track session, and for taking me out as well of course.

We also had a wonderful evening.... Just a shame i couldn't stay awake any longer ( 22 hours awake is as much as i can cope with ) to enjoy it more.

Still...... Roll on Japshow next month. Can't wait!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for making this weekend so great. Kieran and I had a fantastic time, and as ever it was really lovely to see everybody.

I also wanted to say a big thank you to you all for making our friends Rosh and James feel so welcome. It just goes to show once again what a great and welcoming club CVR4 is :)

David, sorry to hear about your brakes but glad you enjoyed your track time. We made sure we watched both club sessions and it was fantastic to see you all out there. I really would have liked to get on the track but it just wasn't going to happen this time..I'm sooo jealous. Should we make it to Japshow I will get it on the strip at least.
Heidi appreciated the ladies making her welcome and we both loved dinner, it's just a shame we were so shattered as to not stay up after Sophie went to bed, Maybe next time. :inquisiti

We've all gotta learn somehow. 1st time at Castlecombe, Quarry will be remembered well.

The main lesson I learned though was, don't think you can get more life out of your tyres when you can't!
