Chucked in the teins in the weekend thanks to "Gly". Was really pleased until we tried to adjust the height. the locking rings were brittle as!! they snapped on us! Bought them off trademe so going back to the seller to get some answers...... Gly recomended a place in Manukau, anyone here had this problem before, know a place where it doesnt cost an arm and a leg to fix? i

Iv just had the same problem with some Teins i got from Osiris, i forgot to try and adjust them, and they were jammed solid, and i ended up having to cut 3 of the bigger rings (spring seat) off

SAS in Wairau got them in for me, about $50 a pop tho.. But authentic Tein.
I assume they could get the littler ring as well.

Those rings are a pain, they corrode on, and theres so much surface area they are impossible to get moving again, i actually broke our bench vise trying to turn them with a big lever, then they crack even using the proper Tein tool, i think i'll have to put some copper grease on them once iv finished.

Oh yeah, apparently there are 56mm and 58mm ID ones, depending on the different models of Teins, so make sure they order you the right one..

Funny this should come up but there seems to be a fair few problems with
these locking rings and spring seat rings.

The HA wagon range seems to be referred to as Basic Wagon Type and have also seen refs to .... get this... "Low Down Spec Cool Style Master Type Wagon" :afro: What the TEIN guys were on when they launched this product.. I will never know

Anyway, There seem to be two Product ID codes... Starting with either

DUR43 - (12531) Low Down Spec. or;

DSR42 - (U1SS2) Type Wagon

I am not sure about the differences between these units, maybe some come without spring tops, or maybe different spring rates.

I get the impression that the wagon type DSR range is a revision of ealier DUR?
but I could be wrong, maybe any TEIN spotters or distributors (Mr Voodoo perhaps) can put me straight on this...

Are the various locking / spring seat rings the same across the HA range? Anyone know?

Also came across THIS (http://www.j-rally.net/~marjo/comfort/leg1/lib/sus/suspension.html) page (I think this may have been posted before?)

/end ramblings

Cheers

**** dude please accept my apologies. I didn't see this thread until now and if I had known the rings were seized I would have told you before selling them to you. I never had the tool to adjust the rings so I never bothered!

Again my apologies, I assumed that you would have txted me or rang me if there was a problem with them.

:(

No worries, they were second hand and I'm a big enough boy to check these things for myself. It just wasn't something i thought to check, i figured some brute force would sort them out, but man were they stuck...(read bench vise exploded when i levered on them:afro: )

The whole lots looking pretty good now, i sanded them back and painted them gold. I'm just waiting on one more of those locking rings to arrive and then i'll be able to put them in:happy:
