Before you start INSERT INTO post VALUES (Kieran:D ) I'm not a Witch so keep your flaming sticks away. :D

If you had the money to buy a cheap run around to play with and modify what would you have?

I really quite like those Smart cars, you often see them bolt from the lights and take corners at scary speeds. :D
I'd buy one and respray it ONE colour, and upgrade the turbos and inject some nitrous.
I might even consider if I had the money. dropping in two Honda Blackbird engines into it and again a little sniff of nitrous.
Which ever way I'd make it one hell of a fast car.

Anyone else?

To be honest mate INSERT INTO post VALUES (I know it is not an answer to your question) but if I had any spare cash it would go on the VR4.

If money was not a problem and I had done all I wanted to the VR4 I guess I would get something like a Pulsar - and I know a man on this forum who plans to get one and gut the inside and soup it up a little for racing INSERT INTO post VALUES (not me btw :D )

I've already got mine... No, not the GLS:D....

Sat in my garage is my Grandad's old Mk3 Ford Escort... It's my little restoration project that I've not worked on in months and months, to my shame:o

Nothing's decided yet, but I'm looking to make it into a comfortable but fun little tool that can put up with some abuse.

Other than that, If I could get away with ANOTHER car, then I'd probably have a go at building one of those Locost Roadsters INSERT INTO post VALUES (the ones featured in the Haynes "Build your own Sports Car for £250" books) - probably with a zetec or K-Series in there... I've even got permission for this as well, as Alex fancies herself in a little classic shape roadster:D

An old 206GTi. Katie and I were cruising Autotrader looking to buy something for a few hundred quid with a bit of MOT to race to destruction and our favourite was an old 206GTi.

The trouble is finding one that hasn't already been abused to the extreme.

I have not driven the normal Smart coupe, but had a go at the new Smart roadster, seems very noisy and not very smooth at all.

The best runaround car I've tried is the Daihatsu Charade... cost next to nothing, smooth gearchange and feels pretty quick!

my mate has ordered a seat leon cupra R. but its at least 3 months delivery time on it. when it comes, he will be selling his 309 gti !! [ 4 door ] most, if not all, of these gti's have been abused to the point of estinction. not his !! he bought it brand new, back in 1991, 60,000 miles, FSH, & he's been the only driver !! just spent a load of money on service, & new tyres etc. even the guy at the dealers said it's probably the best kept 309 in the country. I might be tempted myself, knowing its history.

That's just too bizarre. Had a conversation with somebody doing exactly the same thing this week, and he's offloading an old carlos sainz ltd edition celice in a few months. I reckon I'll be having that off him!
