metal indicator strip on the brake pad touching the disk?

Is it a high pitched shriek? If so, it might be the belt slipping as the pump loads up and becomes harder to turn.

Okay, as konman so rightfully points out, in my case its my right brake disk...

I went round a left corner with the noise loud and clear... gently applied the brake with my left foot and the noise went away... lifted and it came back... until then i was sure it was coming from further into the engine bay...

I knew my brakes where knackered anyway... So I just need Rhys brembos from NZ to hurry up and get here :-P

So VR4 moose in your case it could be the left disk..
