Hey guys, just asking for some recommendations for places to take the legnum in for a service. only got it a few months ago and the oil and ATF fuild looks quite healthy, previous owner said it was regularly serviced, but who knows no records....

would like to take it in for a "full service" anyway
and also get them to investigate a rough idle problem /Grrr .

i have done some investigation myself, removed BOV, checking visible hoses etc for leaks,
im pretty sure its a vaccuum leak of some sort as you can hear a hissing from the area above the belts on the left of engine bay (see pic, sounds like about 15cm below circled area but sound does weird things and could be anywhere...), but its not coming from the turbo pipes. Also i have noticed the boost gauge vacuum is lower(closer to 0/boost) than it used to be at idle. used to sit about 500mm/hg now its about 300mm/hg which helps suggest some kinda leak? maybe?

havn't checked some of the other rough idle solutions mentioned on here yet like the stepper motor, mainly coz im pretty sure its a vacuum leak due to the hiss that im sure wasn't there before the issues.

A while back VR-4 Mad recommended these guys to me - I haven't tried them yet, but apparenly they know their way around Legnums:

Cool, might give them a ring seen what they can do for me. in regards to fixing idle and also if they know the details etc for a service.
i guess a C service would be good to get for a car with no history...
stopping short of replacing belts etc etc... ?

Hi Rosco_NZ. Yep use Active for day-to-day services, WOFs etc and have always been pleased with their work.

But............for somethink like the 'C' service I would seriously consider going to Kirk Motors Lower Hutt (the Mitsi dealers).

I know they are expensive and all that. My previous VR4 was always taken to them for all the service work and I was always pleased with their work.

I will probabley take my current car to them (Kirks) for the cam belt and water pump change when it needs doing.

Now if mods were the order of the day, then Active would be the place. Big standard service jobs, Kirks is the place.

So there's some food for thought and my 2cents worth.
