Hmmm.... The 'MOT for life' comment is interesting. As is the fact he's nabbed our quick-spec list.

Whilst it may have been in the UK from new, it's not one of the 'Official' Ralliart cars either. They were all tiptronic Type-S cars. That's a Type-V.

The seller is also selling it as having AYC - the Type-V doesn't.

This line also interests me...

"ALL OF THE CARS SERVICE HISTORY CAN BE OBTAINED FROM RALLIART"

Having found this out with my GLS, Mitsubishi Motors won't print off records for you - because they have the previous owner's details on there.

I can vouch for that, when I bought Simon's he had to ring the dealer to give authority to print it off and post to me

I assume the cambelt service is due?

If so, then ~ £9000, although not a bargain, seems reasonable value?

Hi Mate sorry only now getting back to you been very busy day. I have just phoned mitsubishi direct and spoke to a specialist to confirm and they reassure me 100% (by number plate search) that this car has AYC. It is not a V or S type it is a legnum. I asked them about the AYC display and they tell me for this particular model there is no display present on dash but the car definitely has AYC!!! This is a genuine 2.5 V6 VR4 TWIN TURBO 4x4 RALLIART car....sorry for any confusion!

...sounds like bollox to me...

sounds like mitsi have no idea themselves. I haven't seen a facelift without wheel arches that has AYC. I would be interested to see if it has an AYC fuse in the engine bay. I also think the drivers side rear guard will be void of an AYC pump.

Normally they wouldn't be allowed to do this as under the data protection act they wouldn't be able to release information relating to other people.

being a Type-V its probably not an official Ralliart import, probably one of the last inependant imports before the rules changed though

Easy to criticise the vendor, but if he really has been told that by a 'Mitsubishi Specialist' (quite believable, IMHO) then how is he to know any different?

Just all sit back, relax and smile, whilst remembering that these cars are so unknown that only a few people truly understand them!!

Just means it sat in a Mitsi showroom for months (or even more than a year) before it was sold. The car's age dates from when it was first registered, not from when it was made. Not surprising really, because Mitsi sold the manuals (no AYC, no arches, narrower wheels & tyres, no leather on steering wheel or handbrake) for £30,995 when you could have the tiptronic with all the better bits for only £1,000 more. IIRC, of the 200 official Ralliart cars, only 4 were manuals, the rest were auto/tips.

He should sort out his info before he sells it though.

Really.

This MOT for life thing is odd.

As is the AYC question.

And he should get the service history for the new buyer if its that easy.

Just things id do before selling a car that price, last thing id want is a buyer coming back finding out things dont add up.

Nice car mind, i wouldnt mind it.

That's true - we have... But, speaking personally here, it REALLY winds me up to see things mis-represented and when people have a completely unrealistic or factually incorrect view, I will say something about it. I think it's only right.

The other thing, given the tone of the advert and the wording in particular, I am deeply suspicious that the vendor knows that the advert is inaccurate.

But I do take your point that he/she could be completely naive and therefore not deserve our derision.

I just got this response from the seller today:

Hi

Very sorry i havent got back to you, been very busy with work. I was not aware that this model was a V or S type i have phoned both mitsubishi and ralliart and they both inform me that it is no type. This car was the last to be converted and as a result many ralliart extras were fitted! I have been told that this model is a hybrid between the S and V type!!!
Hope i have answered your question, if you have any other queries then do not hesitate to ask!

regards

andy

And another reply from vendor:

"A MISTAKE WAS MADE WHILE SETTING UP THIS LISTING SO PLEASE TAKE NOTE: THIS CAR HAS YAW CONTROL BUT NOT ACTIVE YAW CONTROL (AYC)! ALSO I DO APOLOGISE FOR SAYING IT WAS A LEGNUM...WHEN I PHONED MITSUBISHI DEALER THEY WERE GOING THROUGH VARIOUS MODELS AND TOTALLY GOT MY WIRES CROSSED!

THIS CAR IS THE VERY LAST GALLANT THAT RALLIART CONVERTED! ALOT OF VR4S ARE ON A 02 PLATE BUT THIS CAR IS ONE OF THE VERY FEW ON A 03 PLATE!
IT IS FITTED WITH AN ELECTRIC SUNROOF WHICH IS VERY RARE. IT WAS £1200-£1500 TO HAVE THIS AS AN EXTRA! (NOT NORMALLY FOUND ON VR4S!)
THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE CAR AS IT WAS CONVERTED BY RALLIART UK. IT WAS SOLD NEW WITH FULL WARRANTIES FROM MITSUBISHI AND WAS BUILT TO UK SPECIFICATION!

NOT ALL VR4S ARE IMPORTED. THIS IS ONE OF A SMALL FEW THAT WERE BUILT FOR MITSUBISHI TO UK SPECIFICATION!!
THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN REGISTERED IN ANY OTHER COUNTRY WHICH MAKES IT EXTREMELY RARE (THIS CAN BE PROVED!!!)
THIS CAR WAS SOLD NEW FROM MITSUBISHI DIRECT - IT WAS CONVERTED BY RALLIART UK AND WAS ONE OF THE LAST EVER CONVERTED!!!
MOT FOR LIFE: THIS CAR COMES COMPLETE WITH AN MOT CERTIFICATE WHICH ENABLES YOU TO HAVE A FREE MOT TEST AT MITSUBISHI BRISTOL!!!

I was not aware that this model was a V or S type i have phoned both mitsubishi and ralliart and they have both inform me that it is no type. This car was the last to be converted and as a result many ralliart extras were fitted! I have been told that this model is a hybrid between the S and V type!!!

This is a genuine car and ideally needs to be seen in person to understand its full potential, you are more than welcome to view the car at any time!!!!!

Hope i have answered your questions, if you have any other queries then do not hesitate to ask!

regards
andy"
