the finished article will have the welding on the inside, & slightly more angle towards the engine to clear the battery. plus rounded off corners & polished. fits well though !! and to complete the scene, a X power carbon cone filter for £27.95 !!

just fitted my diy induction, fitted the heat shield, filled up with optimax, reset the ecu, & ..........err... seems very sluggish compared to before ?? maybe the cone filter is restricting the air flow ?? I dunno ?

just got to fit my philips ulra blue headlamps & spotlights now. :-D

I think both the bracket you've made and the cone filter look a bit small - I think they could both the restricting the air into your engine?

This is the exact same filter as I am using INSERT INTO post VALUES (well mine is chrome......Race X) I posted that I lost a couple of HP using it, but it does look nicer!

What you really need to finish the job off is the BDA bean tin mod! :)

is there a problem with leaving a small gap between the air inlet & the filter ?? oh ! & the headlights dont fit !! they sent 1 pin [ H1 ] instead of H7's !! :noshake: powerbulbs .com state that a '97 galant needs H1 lamps !!! do they f**k. :noshake:

There will naturally be a problem with the gap, the 'lighter' and less dense hot air in the engine bay will be easier to suck in to the filter............I doubt you would notice much difference though. Give the ECU time to learn, drive it hard and drive it fast!

The FTO Owners Club tested that filter along with loads of others and we lost bhp as well. There just wasnt enough airflow through it for a standard V6 let alon the VR4 engine.

It is very marginal though, I can still pull 275BHP at the wheels with one of these filters. Sometime in the near future INSERT INTO post VALUES (I have been promised early next week) my MAF flange will come so I can start working on a similar CAI to Rhys. Also I have 5 sets of decat flanges coming............

Derek,

We discovered that in this thread mate: http://www.clubvr4.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=803

Hi Derek, long time no speak ---PC probs...don't ask. anyway, powerbulbs are technically INSERT INTO post VALUES (partially) right......H1 are main beams, H7 for dip beam. But I suppose you know that now!!

SGHOM
23-12-2003, 08:41 PM
no ! I didn't know that !! when I rang them to question whether they had got it right, that H7 were the correct ones, they appologised to me, & said they would update their web site & I can keep the H1's ??

wirdy

Hope you haven't binned them or given them away!!!! get them fitted!!!

Have got some 100W H1's on the way for my mains and a HID kit for my low beams.
As far as I know H1 100W=illegal, but aftermarket HID INSERT INTO post VALUES (2-3 times brighter than standard) = legal. Strange isn't it??
