As most of us know, Metallic paint was only optional on the Galant and it really really does make a huge difference to the car. The definately stands out more.

For example:

non metallic.......

and metallic........

As you can see the metallic one is more attractive then the other and it really makes a huge difference, i.e. more appealing

There wasn't a non-met silver offered at all. The only non-metallic colours I'm aware of are red and white, and these only on pre-2000 cars.

I have never given it any thought before, but can you even get non-metallic silver???

That would be grey then???

But then this is from someone who identifies traffic lights as top, amber and bottom /pan

They look the same there to me, but isn't there a silver with a pearl??? Certainly my 98 wagon has a darker silver than that and some other facelifts, and mine is officially registered as 'grey'. Or is there more than one shade of factory silver?

Pre-facelift UK cars were available in Hamilton silver. Post-facelift (or possibly just cars with the sport bodykit) were Satellite silver. As you observed, hamilton silver is darker (Scottish Ian's car was hamilton silver).

no no hear him out.

I also thought they made a semi metallic silver, an almost metallic silver, a sortof metallic silver and a metallic silver but not so there. All different shades don't you know.

I'm only joking GTZ, just think, with all these posts, your earning lots of bux, and you can play in the arcade everyday.

its even better when you get the metallic dark greeny bluey colour they come in.....then notice the some knobber has mopped the car and its all swirly took forever to get those swirls out *shakes fist in anger*

there the same colour....one is everyday i sorta clean my car when i can be bothered to take it through the car wash, then wash it when its warm in the summer by hand, and polish it once a year paintwork.....the second is my type of paint work polished everyweekend wether permiting but washed at least 2 times a week, i live in countryside so gets instantly dirty

but my car used to be the top silver.....then i spent 14 hours in total polishing it it now looks like bottom one
