The seller states "There is a noise when you depress the clutch so possible suspect clutch thrust bearing the car drives fine at the moment but please keep this in mind when bidding as may be something else" :speechles

Can the collective offer any words of wisdom regarding the noise and possible costs?

hmmm, i suppose it really depends on what the noise is. If it is the bearing, then i recon it would be about a 8/10 hour job to take the engine out (easiest and most stress free way of doing it), remove gearbox and change the bearing, which isnt that expensive really (the bearing i mean)

Getting this type of work done my mitshi would be quite expensive i recon, anything from 75 quid an hour.. WRD (http://www.clubvr4.com/index.php?page=wrd?1) might be able to sort it out much cheaper though.

but yeah, i suppose it really depends on what the noise is, and when exactly it occurs, its not like hes being very descriptive... perhaps a quick call to clarify will help.

Caveat Emptor... The V6 gearbox is known for eating it's input bearings at around ~100K miles or earlier if it's been abused. However, this is usually heard by a whining/grinding noise whilst the car is underway and you will usually get about ~15K miles out of it before it goes south for the winter. The noise described here *doesn't* sound like that.... But it's difficult to say.

I think i'd want to test drive it first before I made a descision.
