hmmm...

Wonder if it provides gains over a boost controller and a fuel computer..

Anyone know?

Just curious..

I think it probably does a combination of the two, but if someone has already spent the time (and money) to tune it then it could be worth a look

I kinda agree, im interested to know the benefits of a tuned ECU from one of the big players.. im sure Blitz used to do them for the vr4 too.

I understand that the autobox can be tuned, but my car is a manual.. i'm going to do some digging to see if its worthwhile when i already have a BC and FC.

My old car had a tuned ECU that I think was Mines, it was so much faster than my standard facelift (also had exhaust and HKS superflow pod).

Increases boost to about 12 psi most of time and peak of 15 or 16 (all mapped). Removes speed limiter.

$750 is a bit pricey these have sold much cheaper. Brand new are $1500 in japan. Mines still sell them

'Freddy' has a mines in his car, his wasn't set for boost at all, he had a manual boost controller peaking at 15psi. His car got 181kw on a dyno.

Otherwise it was fairly stock, I think it had a cat back exhaust though

I might be interested in this if one of the CVR4 memebers would be willing to bid/buy & post to me? Rhys can vouch for me...?

His one wasn't set up for boost at all, I assumed it handled timing and air flow.

Ta Brad /bounce

Looks like it was MT5 car - are the ECU's different then? I thought the A/T was controlled by a seperate unit...?

It is, but I think there are a few different connections, you would need to check with Andy (VR2 man) to see, I know that he researched the ecu's

****e, when I crashed the old girl, I ripped one of these out of her. Looks standard, but has a Mines sticker/seal over the casing. I had no idea what I had there.

It's in the new car now, no exhaust exhaust. It was boosting to 12lbs without controller.

If any of the auckland kiddies know what a standard VR4 feels like, and want to know what diff these ECU's make, let me know. The new car has got the ARC intercooler and airbox now, but otherwise standard.

Freddy's car made 181kw with one of them, compared to around 165kw for a car with the same amount of boost as his. So they are worth about 15kw ATW, of 20kw at the flywheel.

Maybe the ecu has something to do with your misfiring issue and that you need to do something else to the tuning of the car?

I know poeple used to have prob's with Jap tuned ECU's due top the differnce in fuel Quality that the Japanese have compared to our **** Oz Fuel, but it is probly not as much of an issue now day's. On a simolar topic, what standalone ecu's can tou get for the VR4's, can you get Power FC's for them?

You can't get any standalone ecu that just goes into the VR-4, but it is possible to adapt Link's and Autronic's and probably others.
