With my ongoing issues about water temps when tracking, I have now received my order for one of these, an Auto Gauge Fan Temperature Controller.

The basic idea is to allow me to reduce the temperature at which my fans cut in and run when on track - basically I want them on all the time !

The unit is very small, roughly about 2" wide and 1" tall, so can easily be mounted somewhere, and has a digital temp readout.

Will feedback once installed.

Nice one Pete , a good idea for track use as well

I await a full review - of course this mean you have to try it out on the track quite soon ;)

Indeed..........RT5.5 will most likely be the first chance though

Ok, this has been installed today and will feedback on results when get chance to drive it.

Basically it has:

Oil temperature
Water temperature
Battery voltage
Fan controller

I can set at what temp the fans cut in, as well as manually overide them to be on constantly.

Oooooerrrrr, me likes it - as I have exactly the same issues.

Can't remember who suggested to me that it MAY simply be that a new radiator is required by us Pete, as old ones will build up all sorts of debris and stop good quality cooling.

It's possible Rich, but this was a cheaper option for now........of course time and testing will tell

Pete, do you use any coolant, other than an antifreeze/coolant combo?
DEI have a product called radiator relief. It's really good stuff.

Pete, mine was overheating when doing trackdays, but I cant see how keeping the fans on will help that much as once your above a certain speed, about 20mph the fans become more of a restriction than a help as 20mph of air is hitting your rad. What Ive done, which I think has cured the problem as its not overheated for ages is to make sure that all the air hitting the intercooler then goes through the rad, I had gaps all round where air could miss the rad.

you may want to re-route the water pipes that go to the turbo's as this heats the water quite a bit, and change the numberplate (if youve still got the one in your sig) as that looks like its blocking quite a bit of air.

[but it looks cool]

Something else to consider - re-fit your undertray - I was babbling on about why that would make a cooling difference in another thread.
