just found some in my shed!

You will need to remove the shock absorber and spring assembly and fit lowered / uprated springs to the existing shocks if you are just looking to lower the car. Although most people would recommend that you fit shock absorbers that are designed for a lowered car at the same time otherwise you will be using the existing shocks outside of there recommended height range and this will/may cause failure. Also, the ride will be much better with the correct shock.

You do not need remove the AYC pump to lower the car.

as Wayne says the AYC has nothing to do with suspension.

the shocks & springs i have are complete assmbled units ready to fit, i.e. shocks, springs, topmounts etc. along with AYC, kept as spares for "just incase" i needed them

Cheers lightning. I want to fit lowering springs to my car and just not sure if ayc was part of the setup. done a load of cars but never one so complex. Do any of the EVO range rear struts fit?? Or are they not up to the job of our heavier cars?

No problem. As far as I know none of the Evo suspension parts fit the VR-4.

:afro: I've got the chance of an EVOIV cusco setup for next to nowt and wondered if they would 'adapt' easily. I know the rears are not the same on the bottoms, but a grind and weld wd sort that. Also the EVO springs are too weak, BUT...... if the internal dia of the cusco and vr4 springs is the same then id have the comfort of the std springs and adj ride height! Wadya reckon??:afro:

you'll probably have to go to the trouble of removing your suspension to compare everyting and line them up etc.

could be worthwhile to end up with a hybrid setup;)

i wouldnt bother.

its completely different all round,

any grinding on the body will heat the shock. and cook the internals,
and completely stuffing them up.

I had my arse in the air today doing my b/box (which is awesome btw!) and measured up, the evo shocker total length is 1" shorter overall. They dismantle so I can cut the bottom mount off and weld a leggie one on. The spring rates are uprated for an evo so prob just right for mine. They are gas ones too so better altogether. Not looked at fronts yet tho but my mate Alan at AS Performance up here reckons they'll go no bother.
