Ok, it's another official CVR4 visit to the Nurburgring. I know this is very close to RT5 in terms of timing, but at least it's an alternative date for anyone (like myself) who could not make the Easter trip.

Itinerary:

May 26th - sail from Dover 8am to Dunkirk - arrive at The Ring mid-afternoon - track opens at 6pm for a couple of sighting laps

May 27th - full day from 8am to 7.30pm at The Ring

May 28th - part day at The Ring - opens at 8am and depart mid-afternoon to travel to SPA

May 29th - trackday at SPA with the MLR (£179 for non members and £159 for members)

May 30th - ferry return to UK at 2pm (Dunkirk to Dover) - White Lightning

We have booked the Motorsport hotel for the 26th & 27th already and will confirm a hotel for the 28th at SPA asap. For the ferry - https://www.norfolkline-ferries.co.uk/en/dd-passenger/book%20online?lang=en currently £53 return if you book now !!!!

The SPA trackday will need to be booked via the MLR shop. Currently it's £159 if you are a MLR member, or £179 if you're a non-member.

Everyone is welcome !

Attendees:

Andy and Debs (The Vee) - Confirmed - Ferry, Motorsport & Spa booked
Wayne and Kate (White Lightning) - Confirmed - Ferry and Motorsport booked

At the moment we can get a ferry from Dover to Dunkerque for £48 return !

The hotel is between 60 and 80 euros per night

Meals are about 10 euros each, plus drinks

etc etc

I reckon £1000-£1200 would be a good estimate (for 2 people) :2thumbsup

It costs us that for us both, but you could do it a LOT cheaper if you wanted it to!!! It all depends on number of laps, how much you drink, etc, etc.

For those having doubts, this trip will involve going round and round in circles and no opportunity to clean the car for the whole trip

Europe is a VERY dirty place with VERY dirty roads

And at the Ring you may to park in a VERY dirty car park - mud and grime and goodnes knws what to dissolve that polish androt the paint!

But then again The Ring is what the VR-4 was designed for - a fantastic track to enjoy the speed and HANDLING

Letting my addiction get the better of me

For the atmosphere, the food, the drink, the laughter AND a few laps....

Kieran
10-01-2007, 01:01 PM
Heh! Yeah, I'm sure it is - I do intend to 'do' a trip to the 'Ring one of these days, just to see what it's like. Unfortunately, assuming a rough cost of £1500, I'm roughly £1472.34 short at the moment!

chris g
10-01-2007, 01:17 PM
Well I think that estimate of costs may be on the excess side but a w/e travel, fuel, hotel, food and drink AND a few laps - maybe £500-£800

If you are careful on ferry deal (£48 return) careful with speed/fuel on the drive there and do just a few laps as a taster and do not need pads/tyres replacing then as a couple I wuld be surprised if you need to spend much more than this

And see it as a holiday with a few days around the beautiful Eifel Region........

perhaps cost are not too bad......

So assuming thats for CVR4 members, I only have to find where I mislaid my lovely VR4......

.....damn, sold it!

Now to find a VR4 of my dreams - loved my 8g, liked my 7g in NZ but would really like a 6g EVO VR4.......

.....found quite a few in NZ, AND nearly bought 6g EVO VR4 RS there but....

...now back in UK and know of of cars for sale from my dream list but what to do..?

Job uncertainties continue.....

....can I sort myself in time to join trip to Ring/Spa..........?

The Vee
20-01-2007, 07:17 PM
There are some seriously cheap 8g around at the moment. With the uncertainty you have at the mo, you might even think about a V6-24 version, My first two ring trips were with that flavour, and I certainly wasn't disappointed

Hi everybody,
I´m sorry, but there are so much events in april and may, so i won´t be able to come up to 5th and 6th trackday.
Will there be another trackday this year?

Just come back from the Nurburgring. On the way down we took a detour to the Spa track for a look. Anyway to cut a long story short we stumbled across a track day and ended up paying 50 euros for 30 mins blast round the track! Then we went onto the Nurburgring for a couple of laps. It was one of the most memorable Saturdays I've ever had!

So what were your thoughts on Spa........? Was the full track open when you went on ?

I'm no expert, but it seemed like the full track to me! I didn't even realise it was being worked on until I read this thread! But come to think of it, it did look pretty fresh!! We had a 5.30 slot for beginners, but they ended up letting us on early to join the experts. I think there was only 3 of us beginners, so they bunged us on with the experts and gave them longer on the track. It felt so much safer than the Nurburgring. There are massive run offs and not gravel either. They're tarmac. We'll certainly make the effort to go again! The old VR4's got the power but the tyres suffer on the corners!

Excellent news on the track being ready, that's a massive relief. Bed it in for me guys, with special attention to Eau Rouge ;)
