Did a trip down to Taupo, acheived over 10 km per litre ...!! That's almost civilised !!

OK, so the wife drove, we hardly ever got over 100 kph, and we overtook almost nothing and it was a pleasant trip although my accelerator foot almost wore out the carpet on the passenger side. Teach me not to accumulate any more demerit points....

I drove down from Taupo to Ruapehu and up the mountain next day and home to Aucks the following day and I was a good doobie, we cruzed back. Saw some damn idiots though on the road, following way too close, stupid speeds in busy traffic.

And we stopped at Candyland in Taupiri for some sweeties .../GJ

I was driving down to chch last month and got 550km on one tank and that was with the fuel light on for about 80-90km! Also a full tank can get me to taupo from wellington! i found that a manual get more km's than a trip/auto! It was hard going thou driving that slow!!!!!

My best distance was about 500km on 53 litersdriving from Auckland to Ruapehu in the manual. The same route with my previous VR4 tip resulted in 410km from 54 liters. The manual consistently gives me better milage

Holy crap. I have to refuel just going from Chch to nelson I could maybe make it but I'd rather not have to push the car the last ten kms or so.

640km from 53 or 54 litres - beat that! And that was in an auto too :)

I can't help but notice that William, Ray, Xeroid and myself all have facelifts, I insist that has something to do with it. They are much better afterall :D

It depends on the spec, to be honest it is difficult to sum it up in one post. They had mostly the same options and stuff, but the facelifts came with Recaro wheel and Momo seats frequently, and they also support evo5-9 Brembo's without any modification at all.

all manual vr-4's and facelift auto's have 280hp, the prefacelift auto's have 260hp. The facelifts are rated at 0.5kgm more torque though, not too sure why or how and it seems to be fairly inconsistant, some places report the increase and some don't. The facelifts also may use a little less fuel, at least my prefacelift doesn't get as good economy as my facelift.

Since I got Kenneth's intercooler I have been getting 12-13l/100km which I am very pleased with, admittedly it only comes every second weekend or so and goes into Puke for shopping and then home again.

Still I get 7.8ltr/100km in my little laser and it only has a 1.3l engine and no turbos, so really the VR4 is quite efficient for almost twice the displacement and 2 more turbos for good measure :P

sorry brad but i just dont like the facelift front bumper! each to there own i guess.. and besides, i gots a manual so its the same power anyway.
going to waihi on aniversary weekend so ill do an ecconomy test then. driving to work each day i do about 410km to 50L (sitting in stop start traffic) which is better than my str auto did!

I just found out that the facelift models don't have T/C! It still has AYC! So you can get them sideways in the rain!! Also on the same site it said that fuel consumtion is 11.1/100km

Ray, almost all prefacelift auto's have Traction Control and ASC, while I haven't seen a single facelift auto with Traction control and ASC. It was never an option on the manual cars at all.

trip to waihi this weekend plus some town running around today....507.7km on 52L of gull 95 octane! that was with 4 people in the car, cruising at 120 and nailing it hard to 150 - 160 when overtaking... filled it up at shell airport and put 53L in and the fuel light had been coming on and off but wasnt always on..

o yeah i had windows down and sunroof open for most the trip but was using the A/C for awhile, and had the A/C on all day today.

these figures are better than my auto str would get. the str had 2.5 inch cat back fujitswotsyoucallit exhaust and sard pod filter

Something that seems a bit strange to me is that people over here with ST or STR's report poor economy, but in England with the same motor people report great economy. It must be because the ones we get over here are mostly 4wd

could have something to do with our fuel...???
