Anyone got any recommendations on torque wrenches? I am after a new one as the £12.99 one that I got from Argos years ago has seen better days - it fell apart the other day and I've had no confidence in it since putting it back together ... looking for something that's reasonable decent but doesn't cost the earth e.g. Snap Up at £150 ...

Just been to Halfords at lunchtime and they do a 50-200Nm one in their pro range for £49.99. It looked ok and I've got a £20 voucher to spend in there anyway. Anyone got any experience of these? Or am I better of looking elsewhere?

Cheers all

Never had a halfrauds torque wrench. £50 sounds like about the most I'd spend on one, but I don't use mine very often anyway! Most halfrauds pro stuff seems to be good quality.

Bought it when i put my clutch in, it feels very strong, and sturdy!.. only used it a few times though....

Halfords 'Pro' tools are very good VFM. So are 'clarke' if you've a Machine Mart near you.

All of my spanners are now Halfords professional and I have been very pleased with them. So the Halfords one sounds like a good option

Did see a Clarke one in machine mart yesterday but it was only £12 ish so I thought it's probably not much of an upgrade.

Cheers guys .. guess where I'm going after work :2thumbsup

the halfords stuff is very good (i think someone told the same people make snap on)and i think all off the pro range has a life time guarantee.

i got 1 for £20 from screw fix it fell to pieces very quickly.

Yeah, all Halfrauds pro stuff has a lifetime guarantee. I've got ratchet spanners and a socket set and it's good stuff.

Don't get 1 to big or you will find out it won't be very useful on most places on your car :inquisiti

is it a life time guarantee

Does not mention anything on the paperwork that came with it Rich. Perhaps they can't offer a lifetime guarantee due the calibration ...

Although it does not say it needs re-calibrating every x number of years ...
