Hi all,

Joined up as the VR4 Estates are currently top of my new car list. Currently driving a SAAB 9000 Aero and I need something that offers similar performance and useability.

I'm scouring the web for someting up to the £3K mark maybe very slightly more.

Hope to be on here permanently sooner rather than later!

Cheers
Lee

£3k is the lower limit on these cars. Don't expect one in perfect condition for that!

But welcome and enjoy your stay! Keep your eyes peeled, they do turn up sometimes for that!!

I got mine for less than £3k, so it is possible.
But as others have said, don't expect it to be perfect, and be prepared to spend quite a bit no matter how much you end up paying for one.

If your looking for similar performance :inquisiti

Then i would say look more towards a Subaru Legacy :speechles

If you want a lot more Power, Fun, Traction and Invisibility Mode :thinking:

Then a Leggy VR4 is what you want /rally

PS... Welcome to the club :pimp2:

Nah !! :inquisiti

It's due to the forces that i have to put up with on a daily basis from driving a Legnum VR4 :D

One day you will come over from the light side :scholar:

Once you get your head outta the dark :pimp2:

tig202 - PM on it's way

All- thanks for the welcome. I have realised that 3K is the lower end of he market but I have seen a couple of nice lookers for that money. Unfortunately I have little choice but to buy a new car and 3K is already stretching it at the moment.

Regards
Lee

Hi lee

you will get something for £3K eventually, but you should have some funds for a full monty service if the car does not have a fully verified service history (and possibly even if it does!) you should budget for;
cambelt change
* full engine service (with AMSOIL)
* full gearbox service (with AMSOIL) using the proper method - how to in the members section
* AYC fluids replaced
* Diff / transfer box fluids replaced

happy hunting :)

What's the gen on servicing these beasts? I do a large amount of my own work and other than diect engine work or anything that requires expensive specialist tools I can pretty much do it myself.

For that matter I could do with finding out if there is anyone in or near Ipswich that is recommended in case I do have big job to do. This may change to Germany soon if i get the job I'm aiming for!

The hunt is on and I have a viewing lined up for this weekend :evilgrin:

Well I now have a VR-4, virtually no UK history but has been club owned at least
once and maybe twice. Recent 4500mile sevice but will need a major one next :/
Has had gearbox work completed so shifts nice and smooth. Purchased for £2800 so within budget, just, but at least it is a full Type-S and has a Fujiwhatsit exhaust.
Insurance £371 fully comp with Sky.
Many posts to be generated :0)
