Stupidly I parked the leggy on Princes St on Saturday night and came back to find the rear quarter window smashed and about $3k worth of stuff nicked!

Damn :5shots:

Well at least they didn't nick off with the car! :speechles

Didn't think you got much of that sort of thing over there, but I suppose every place has it's own share of low life - sadly

Sorry to hear that.

This advice might be a bit late but I have chosen to enable the child locks on the rear doors to minimise the breakin possibilities.

Yeah everything can be replaced, the old 'hide the radar under the seat' trick doesnt work btw!

Got pretty good insurance but it's a pain in the arse. Also they damaged the door around the window they smashed is the biggest pain, as it'll be hard to get fixed and not quite enough to claim.

I think he means he hid it under the seat, but it was stolen anyway.

Bummer, not nice when it happens, sorry to hear about it.
Some places in Auckland we won't take our cars to, catch a taxi instead ( means we can have a drink too so there is a bonus !! ).
Other places we just don't go ... period.
Went to the Roger Waters concert Mon night, with friends, in their car. Just as well too, the parking access would have torn the front off the Leggie, probably the VR4 as well.

sorry to hear about that.

just wonder if there was anything inside the car that attracted thief's attention?

SimonNZ
30-01-2007, 10:11 PM
Thinking about it yeah, i left the suckers for the radar on the windscreen, they might have been able to see them. Otherwise no..... aside from the car itself.

KHK

got to hide every valuable or seems to be valuable items, this is first rule

choose the safe spot to park, not just to avoid thief but also possible dent / scratch; i think this is more effective than alarm system

Nah mate here's how you do it:

Remove car key from keyring
Set alarm and quickly hide the fob somewhere inside
Shut the door and 30 seconds later the alarm zone will reset itself
Attach car key securely to key rope on boardies
Perve at chicks on the way down to the beach :o
Swim swim swim
Perve at chicks on the way back to the car /woot
Open car with key (will set off alarm but who cares)
Find fob and disarm
Toot at the babes walking down the road as you drive away in your unstolen car :scholar:

you just can't leave *anything* in your car *ever* unless you're prepared to get it nicked.
Tis a sad state of affairs, but the truth :(

I even had a USED disposable camera with all my happy snaps on it that I hadn't developed yet, stolen. THAT was a piss off.

Think I may've had some pics of the gf at the time on it *grin* which is probably why they bothered to take it :P

Well tonight (Sunday) I parked on Princes Street (on the Albert Park side) and went for movie. The front passenger window of the car has been smashed and the glovebox lid wrenched off - I stupidly locked the glovebox to keep my ipod nano safe.

The only thing that seems to be missing is an $18.00 iTrip style FM transmitter which I bought from the Warehouse. Funnily enough they left behind the ipod nano which was attached to the transmitter - go figure that one out!

I guess it will cost me about ~$100 for a new glovebox lid. The window will be coverd by insurance since I have no-excess add-on cover for window glass.

I suppose they didn't need my little 2GB ipod nano if they had your 30GB one. I wish they'd have just gone to the Warehouse or somewhere and bought a transmitter for $20, I mean jeeze, I wasted a lot of time today waiting around for my window to be fixed!

It could well have been the same person, or someone from the same gang or whatever. I bet these guys hang out in the same place for a while.
