Hey all, check this leggy out and tell me what you think http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=87159339&key=558792
Found it yesterday and tried to check the car yard out today but they were closed /Grrr

I'm a little gutted it's listed on trademe as I know heaps of people are going to see it (coz I want it) What you reckon... fair price?

I've just come into some money so am pretty much ready to buy YAY!

Looks nice, but possibly a little expensive. I would walk in there with $10k and tell them thats the best offer

Yeah I was thinking that because you can almost guarantee that the cambelt and waterpump havn't been done and thats around a grands worth that needs to be spent straight away. I'll be taking tomorrow off work so I'm going to go check the car out in person and see what it's like.

The only thing I don't like about this is the age of the car. I'd really like a facelift model (pearl white too) so...... if anyone knows of one for sale with good kms and around the same price range then let me know. Cheers!

Looks pretty nice, like the'evo' kit, bit of a change.
Def need cambelt doing, about $1300.
I do like the bonnet vents, it would be the one body mod I'd do to mine. Are those bonnet pins on the front as well, photo is not clear enough to tell.
Hammer the price because with current fuel and running costs they are not a popular car now for the average joe.
Don't show him you want THAT one, tell him there are plenty of 'others' you are looking at so be prepare to play it a bit cool, They like to clear the yards before March 31st for tax declaration purposes and that ain't that far away.
Find out what, if any, warranty they will give.
If you've got cash then you have all the cards in your hand.
Give it a quick thrash and hit some corners hardish to hear what the suspension is like.
Good luck ...
Let us know.

Those are all of your options on trademe for facelift manual VR-4's. Do you really want a manual or can you do with an auto?

Thanks Brad.

Man I feel stupid now. Untill now I had only seen one of those listing because I never used a dash when searching for VR4 (VR-4) DOH! They're all a little too much for me at the moment however but that buyright place might be good for a little haggling as they seem to have a few VR4s. (oh and I'm definately after a manual, I'm sick of auto and the manuals pull harder!)

And thanks for the advice Xeroid. Yeah I'm going to take it for a good thrash today if they'll let me. Their warranty company is Driveright who I'm already with and they've accepted every claim from me so far without any hassles. I think the bonnet pins are for real because if you look at the engine bay piccy there is a small rod poking up on the left. I'd prefer without the pins but it doesn't matter much. I reckon I'd pay the 12k only if they gave me at least a 2 year warranty with it and got a good alarm installed for me.

Will post later today on how the test drive went and if I like it or not.

/Grrr Insurance people - looks like I can't get the money I was expecting till either I'm 65 or I die.

Didn't even go look at the car because of this either.

Looks like I will have to keep saving now... bummer!

bugga, who did you get quotes with?

It was a life insurance policy that was taken out by my dad as a part savings scheme also so that I can use it in the future. He recently gave me control of it and when I tried taking some cash from it they told me the only cash I can get at the moment is if I cancel the policy alltogether and it wont even be worth $1800!!!!! WTF!

My dad thinks this is way wrong so we are going to try sort something out. Main problem being that myself, my dad and the insurance advisor are all in different parts of the North Island so it's going to be alot of f*&@ing around.

I think the company is Sovereign and I've decided that I'll stop looking at cars otherwise I might get my hopes up too soon. Gutted as but I've got a few things lying around that'll help get a bit of money via trademe...

I search for 'legnum', engine capacity greater than 2.5l, and manual gearbox. That way you're assured every manual v6 or vr-4 will come up.

Bummer to hear about the silly insurance thing, did your dad take out a life insurance policy for you, and you want to cash it in now or something?

Yeah, we were both under the impression that I could cash in part of the policy yet still be able to carry on the rest of it without cancelling the whole thing. After what I learnt today it seems that the policy is in fact worth fek all.

Then again the guy I was talking to sounded like an absolute moron so there may be hope yet. You'd think after 22 years of paying into something it would be worth alot more than $1800 aye!

Ah well I'll just keep ogling pictures for now haha!
