At the last committee meeting it was decided that a new forum will be created if the clubs better halves would like one :D I believe this topic has been discussed a few times on the forums.

So, If the ladies would like an area dedicated to yourselves heres you chance to name it! /yes - yup, thats right :D anything you like! (within reason of course)

Once a name has been decided, the forum will be created within the General area.

I have been trying to come up with a name for the forum since it was first mention and have had no brainwaves yet.

The reason I think we’re struggling is that we don’t really want to make it exclusively a female zone (or maybe suggest that in the name?). I think the consensus between the widows I have spoken to is that it should be for wives/girlfriend/families/husbands/boyfriends/whoever of the real car enthusiast who want to have an area to feel comfortable posting in. I am always very conscious of what I post as I want it interpreted in the way I mean it which is very difficult with the written word as you can’t see expressions or hear the tone of voice etc.

Any thoughts?

I am working on another committee task at the moment and one of my ideas for a rename was

"THE LOUNGE", with a description of "Chill out here while the other half talks cars"

It conveys a relaxed atmosphere, but we will have to try and differentiate between this and "General Chat".

But part of the point of the new forum is to be a completely car free area isn't it? Or have I missed the point? Maybe the forum descriptions will be more important than the actual name then.

mebbe ive missed the point, perhaps speed reading this threads latest posts hasn't helped.... but, the way I see it is that we are adding a forum for the ladies which may, or may not contain car related stuff.. this forum I thought would be a safe haven for the ladies to be have a chat.

I just felt that with the renaming/description "Project" we have in place could see the current general chat forum being renamed to "the lounge" (for example) to ensure Galant/Legnum chat is kept to either technical forums, or the uk/nz chat forums. This again would help with the search ability of Galant/Legnum Forums as our forum members wouldn't have to highlight this forum to search for keywords, thus removing a certain amount of returns on the search results. (which is a problem in itself that im addressing with the how to find information using search how to guide.)

So what about this:

The conversion of the General Chat forum name is quite possibly a good way forwards in regards to the ladies forum. It would help (hopefully) eliminate the Galant/Legnum Questions/Chat which is my primary concern. If people are happy with with option, I am happy, its a good idea to categorically define this forum as "something-other-than-galant/legnum"

As this forum grows, so the the references to keywords used, such as spring, block, hub carrier etc... Thing is they may not be related to our cars, thus when someone searches (including the currently names general chat forum) "change suspension" they may pick up a thread where someone posted something like.... did you see the F1 last night, for a change I watched it all, I couldn't believe the suspension on Buttons car collapsed on the last lap"..

this is just an little example and a small part of my search-ability/renaming/description, plan, I am looking ahead a couple years mind.

Sorry I haven't been participating in this discussion much guys - I've had a whole load of stuff kick off at work this week, so just haven't been on line.

Anyhow, I have to agree with the sentiment that it shouldn't be just the girls. 'Widows' is really just a term we've coined to reflect the fact that we are abandoned by our other halves when ever there's a galant within a 50 mile radius!! Just because we haven't got any male 'members' yet doesn't mean they should be excluded. IMHO.

I have been trying to think of names, but I don't have any greatly inspiring ideas - Family Zone is about as far as I got, and I'm not enamoured. Have to say, I really like John's idea of The Priory - I like the idea of rehabilitation for non-car enthusiasts :)

How about we now thin down the list a little, and then put up a poll as has been suggested?
