Hi and welcome! :)
Try these places, they do high quality products with high quality clear coats...end of the day, you get what you pay. :D

yep,
id be going with either of those companys,
they'll cost $1250ish.

but its a very good bonnet,

there are $600 ones out there too,
but IMHO there are of lesser quality and the vent looks wrong

ok mate will do, thanks heaps  what other mods wold you suggest that will give me more power but keep the strain off the engine etc

Gly

exhaust + panel filter (K&N?) + intercooler,

and a boost controller

already got a pod filter in there that got more air coming in, would a k&n panel filter be better?

Gly

yeh panel in a stock box is better,

with the pod your sucking hot air in from the engine bay,
and you'll loose power,

we had a dyno day which showed that the stock setup was far better than a pod,
you could build a cold air box for the pod and add ducting to feed it some cold air

oh crap! my old box is gone oh well you win some you loose some i guess, but thats just annoying! il have to find a way round that i guess ay, how big was the power loss?

Gly
10-02-2007, 10:09 AM
was 10-20 hp (atw's) if i remember correctly
so deffinately a significant loss.

berg1987

what would you suggest i do to get round it?

Gly

find a airbox to put back on your car,

As Gly has suggested above, you could either build a cold air box and add some ducting or look for a replacement standard airbox ...

By the way /Welcome

Gly, did you try an ARC box on the rollers?

bradc

Axeboy, we didn't have any ARC boxes here, just stock intakes or pod filters.

Berg - I would do as Gly suggested, intake + exhaust + boost = a decent increase in power, and while the intercooler will only give you a little bit extra, they look great, so you might as well do it anyway :)

sounds good bradc, im a little sus on the boost controlers tho, is it true that they put alot of pressure on the tiptronic box? thats the only reason im not to sure about one

Gly

if you put good (amsoil) fluid in the trans,
and a good transcooler on it shouldnt be to much of an issue, unless its already sick?

and not to rip on osiris's sale,
thats one of the budget carbon bonnets

berg1987
11-02-2007, 06:25 AM
cheers gly, its not sick yet the car is basically factory apart from the pod and having the cat converter taken out, would a external wasetgate be a good option? im just looking for mods that wont put and or too much strain on the factory parts ie tiptronicbox

Gly
11-02-2007, 06:33 AM
well that would rule out all power mods,
including the filter and decat,

if thats the case, just get comectic ones,
bodykits/wheels, maybe a brake upgrade,
couple of guages, boost, water temp, oil pressure,

woundnt bother with an external unless your upgrading the turbos,
or doing power mods.

but you wont be coz it all puts more strain on the auto box.

lol yeah guess i cant have everything! i guess ill jst to sort the box out with thoses coolants etc electronic boost control and inductions sounds like a plan to me

A small increase in power isn't a huge problem for the box, just make sure you change the oil regularly and possibly get a trans cooler.

Hey on the cold-box / standard+k&n thing, would you get more power from a standard box and k&n, or by boot-mounting the battery, extending the intake closer to the bumper and fitting a cold box + high flow pod?

Gly
14-02-2007, 06:14 AM
unless you get some piggy back comp to alter your fuel map,
i dont think there is much (more if any?) bennifit from a cold air box vs the airbox with panel filter.
other than looks,

if your not planning on remapping the ecu i wouldnt do a cold airbox,
i would do the pannel fiter in the airbox.

where would i be able to get a trans cooler from guys? is it pricey?

Gly
10-03-2007, 07:23 AM
round 150$

kempys,
BNT,
Repco,
trademe,

you need one with 8mm hose fittings,

dont buy a used one,
you never know what might be stuck in it.

Gly, did you try an ARC box on the rollers?

But we may get time got a HKS on mine and fitting a ARC box

Gly

any good cooler would have instructions. it just a case of disconnecting from the factory and plumbing into the new one

berg1987
11-03-2007, 09:24 AM
what about mounting?

Gly
11-03-2007, 10:09 AM
it come with mount ties, and spaces so it sits in front of the AC rad.

berg1987
11-03-2007, 10:41 AM
ill figure a way, first thing is to get amsoil in it b4 i do anything, just had diamond queen thrown in so but the time i get to doing the atf cooler i might have the know how to sort it anyway

Hi I`m new to CVR4 and to get back to the carbon fibre bonnet..i believe a company called Seibon carbon fiber products make 2 types, standard and Evo style in USA, it says from 1999 models on so not sure if they fit a 1997 model. At current UK rates they sell for about £380! excl delivery from USA (no idea how much that is to UK or Nz).

Yer, there's lots of places that make them over there....

It'd cost about $1200 - $1300 landed in NZ, I only know cos I have to import one for my 7g.

Putting a front mount intercooler on a tiptronic vr wouldn't be good for the trans? I'm looking into a AT VR4 Galant & really like the look of intercoolers hehe! - But don't want to damage the trans. Like the idea of that trans cooler (will def do that!).

So don't fit a front mount intercooler to a tiptronic vr?

i know alot of people with tiptronic VR4's with the huge front mount intercoolers.. i dont think they have any issue with it?
