Hi guys,

I'm Mark, live in The Netherlands, one hour north of Amsterdam.

I'm interested in a Legnum VR-4, so that's why I registered...

My current drive is a mint 1990 200sx tuned to about 240bhp. This is the first car I ever bought. Meanwhile I owned (and imported myself) a Skyline r32 GTS-T and a 1992 180sx from Japan. Those cars did not satisfy me :inquisiti so now I´m chasing another specialty.

Now I´m goin´ to take a look at all the info about a Legnum VR4 on this forum,

Cheers!

Mark

Thanks for the welcome, I saw some for sale in the classifieds, but I am trying to find out if importing from Japan directly to Holland is a cheaper way. Right now it looks like it... still have to get some more info. (searching...)

Cheers, Mark

Does anyone know if there is a EU-type approval for a Legnum vr4? If so, it will be a lot cheaper for me to import one directly from Japan to Holland, instead of getting it registered in the UK before importing it to Holland.

Thanks,

Mark

No. The VR-4 was never type-approved. The 'Official' UK cars sold by Mitsubishi UK were nothing more than brand new Japanese imports that were put through the UK's SVA (Single Vechicle Approval) test - this is a test that non-type approved imports and the like are put through.

There is a bit of a minefield here. You see, since 2004 the SVA rules were tightened up and cars less than 10 years old have to be put through an ESVA. This is a tougher version of the SVA and a key part of the new ESVA is having a model report that proves the car meets certain safety, noise and emission requirements. Currently no such report exists for the VR-4, so registering a new import (if younger than 10 years) is much harder.
