Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me out. I run a 2002 Mitsi Galant V6, (Not a VR4 unfortunately!). It covered 42K miles but I never had a full service done at 36K, which I understand is the first big one. I tend to service my cars myself except parts I cannot, e.g cam belt.

I am trying to identify what the exact service schedule is at 36K and 45K miles, so that I can do the regular stuff like filter changes, but not sure if there is anything special that is done at 36K and cannot find out even from the dealership (shady).

Can anyone help me out in identifying exactly what should be done?? And also where I can get a haynes manual equivelant as Haynes only do a US spec and unsure if there are significant differences.

Thanks

I would suggest what Ralliart call a 'C' service for VR-4's which means basically replace every oil, check everything, and in effect do virtually every thing you can do to service a car, other than change the cambelt.

The big service on a V6 is 54k (6 years) which includes plugs, cambelt etc. That is a £600ish dealer option. I would suggest a call to WRD if you want someone else to do the work. (Search the site for WRD).

I'm certain we have a VR4 service schedule in the members section, but I'm not sure if we have a V6 one? But having said that, we have a V6 workshop manual, but no proper VR4 one!

Welcome to the club, by the way! I hope you find your stay enjoyable. Whereabouts in the UK are you?

I have the full service schedule for the V6 Galant that Mitsubishi Motors use. I just haven't had the chance to get it scanned from somebody so I could upload it.

I've just had a look at the service schedule used by Mitsubishi Motors.

At 36,000 miles, Mitsubishi would do the following:

Antifreeze
Brake/clutch fluid
Engine Oil
Gasket Oil
Fuel filter
pollen filter
brake dedust
service kit
screen wash
element air cleaner
element oil cleaner

Thats just an overview as I havent had the chance to upload the documents on the forum.

At 45,000 miles, its the same as 9,000 service interval carried out by Mitsubishi. That is:

Engine Oil
gasket oil drain plug
service kit
brake dedust
screen wash
element oil filter

Brilliant, thanks everyone, really quick and helpfull responses.

Not sure where pollen filter or fuel filter is on this car, or where drain and fill points are for gearbox. May get deaer to do gearbox and brakes, which incidentaly are weak. They judder so bad, need new disks.

I am in Peterborough and I think the servicing costs are steap. Can anyone recommend an indepedant specialist in the area at good rates?

I love the car, it gets so many looks and comments from people in the street. Not impressed with the finish of Mitsubishis thought, could be a lot better. Other than wanting 100bhp more I love it

Don't let a dealer anywhere near your gearbox.

The service items schedule is in the service book.

Welcome to the forums. Think most of your questions are well covered above. Hope you enjoy the club and and put some pics up if you can - there's one or two of us in the same area. V6 models are more than welcome on here with quite a few members running them:thumbsup:

Peterborough...hmmm Not sure of a specialist nearby, but there should be some decent garages about.

I know a few in Corby if interested, and a few to avoid like the plague!
